Great. Thanks for the news. Are the Sahuaros actually in a league this year? What is their status? Do they plan to join the USL or what?

It appears they are still not in any league. Their season seems to consist of playing PDL teams that are in pre-season (the first of which they beat 5-1) and the Lamar Hunt Cup. I would like to see them play in the PDL. However, I think (pure speculation here) that they may have trouble flipping the bill to play in any of the PDL divisions. If the are in the Southwest Division they must travel to northern California a lot, which can get expensive.
Here is a link to the USL league structure. You will find the PDL divisions near the bottom.

When I move, I'd like to get season tickets. I mean they are the only team nearby, it'd be nice to support them. But their website still has the 2004 ticket prices on it... although the $8/game price seems to be more than this year's $7/game price.

A $50 season ticket sounds nice, my Chargers season tickets run about $650 each :)

The Sahuaros are strictly an amateur side who are an independent again this year. The goal is to enter the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup as they did last year. Qualifying round play begins in late May in San Diego. There will be 10 teams competing. The top two advance to the first round of the USOC.

Last nights game was the Sahuaros first this year as they will play several tune-up matches preparing for San Diego.

This Friday night, the Sahauaros take on the Albuquerque Assylum at 7:00 at Tucson High. A great crowd is expected! Then, they will face the El Paso Patriots again on Saturday afternoon in El Paso.

The Sahuaros owner is well aware that there is an effort to bring MLS to Phoenix and thus has not paid the entry fee to join the PDL.

Either way, if you are a soccer fan and enjoy quality play, this is the best game in town.

Copa Food City is far more entertaining than a Saguaro's match.

The Sahuaros play tonight(Sat 5/16) at Reach 11(field 6) to try to qualify for the US Open. A win tonight will qualify them for the Open.
If they win tonight and tomorrow(10 am field 5), they will also qualify for the USASA National Cup title to be played in Florida in late July.

The Sahuaros played to a scoreless draw v Miran of SoCal and failed to qualify for the 2009 US Open as well as the Region IV USASA (http://www.usasa.com/) championship.

The Sahuaros will play friendlies this year as the SW division of the NPSL (http://nationalpremiersoccerleague.com/LoadPage.aspx?iPage=19-48) doesn't have enough teams for '09.

Pairings have not yet been announced.

"The actual draw will be revealed either today or Wednesday."

Sahuaros go to El Paso in the first round. Get the winner of Austin/Mississippi if they advance.

Good luck, lads!
