This (http://www.jtoffbroadway.com/index.php?page=clubcal&display=604) sounds downright interesting for anyone who can read this and get to Davs Square over the weekend.
Apparently, the guy is a monologuist (kind of like Spaulding Gray, only not dead), and this piece is about soccer. The blurb at the website mentions Fever Pitch and Soccer in Sun and Shadow, so he's obviously been paying attention.
No, I don't have anything to do with Jimmy Tingle's Off Broadway, but the guy who paints our house (only when it needs it, fortunately) moonlights as a bar tender there. He mentioned it to my wife because she's told him that I'm soccer obssessed. We're going on Friday.

As far as I can tell, this is spam. But I've changed the title for now. If others agree with me, let me know and I'll bin this thread.

Theater and Somerville don't collide in sentences all that often. I'm impressed.
Maybe a move to the NSR forum if anything.

Jimmy Tingle's never been funny. What's wrong with you? First NASCAR, and now this? :p
Secondly, this person as far as I know hasn't ever posted here. He hasn't posted here at least in 2007, and posts this out of the blue. Sure would seem like spam to me.

Meh, yeah I'd move it to the NSR. I don't mind being informed of soccer related happenings in the area... even if this person did in someway have an affiliation with them.

Nope, not related specifically to the Revs, but it was definitely soccer-related to Boston. I really sorry folks if I stepped out of place with the post.

Yeah, very true. I've met him a number of time. I worked on a film he was in back in 97. He was there 3 or 4 days. He was alsoa client at my last company. He really is a hell of a guy.

In the unlikely event of confusion; Jimmy Tingle is not performing in this event; it's just his joint.
Not only will I be going tomorrow, but I will be getting a 20% discount of my food at Red Bones before hand.

Maybe you can help me a bit....
It says thr show is recommended 14+...why is that?
Do you think I would be smart to take my 12 and 13 my old nephews??? I'm not to worried about language as they've been in the Fort for the past few years....
And 20% off Red Bones sounds sweet...How does one manage to get said discount???
:D

Since the show consists of a guy standing there and talking, I can only imagine that it's because of language.

According to something we got from the club, you just show your tickets or (I hope) emailed receipt at the restaurant. There are also a couple of other Davis Square restaurants that offer discounts, but I'm not sure about the details.

Just got back from the show.
As for the details, he got it all right, and he made no allowances for non-fans.
Since it was in two 45 minute halves, I will say that he sagged for a while around the 60th minute, but he finished strongly, helped considerably by the fact that the last bit was about his own experience as an amateur player.
There are shows tomorrow at 7:30 and Sunday at 3:00pm. I strongly recommend it. Oh, and parking's free in Davis Square on Sundays.
One last thing: I have no idea why there was the warning about 14+, because it was mostly PG13, without that being an kind of a problem.

Glad that you liked the show and I'm happy to have spread the word, even if I managed to ruffle a few New England feathers in the process. This coming from a New Yawker who was at Fenway for the 9th inning comeback on Sunday afternoon!
