I kinda like Sidefootsitter/Golazo68 because at least they/he ;) ae interested in the Bundesliga and German football and are/is for the most part well informed. Sometimes Sidefootsitter is a little bit irritating and to be honest I don't even think they are the same person because there are these typical posts that make me go "Uh?" that only SFS posts.

There are some posters with pretty "interesting" opinons about the level of play of US players and the MLS but on the other hand some of the German posters who think every Regionalliga team would destroy MLS teams are not better.

I have seen exactly one MLS game in my life so I don't really feel like I'm the right person to judge the level of play.

DF, the Heath Pearce thread is worth it even though it's definitly not your normal YA-lunacy - it's the Euros (including me) going totally off-topic there.
No, SFS and golazo68 are definitely different people. golazo68 used to post all the time as JRI, but he appears to have retired that screen name after everyone got too annoyed with him. I think golazo68 lived in Germany at one point, and I think SFS may have lived in Europe, as well.

Some of the level of play discussions are just hilarious. I think it's plain that there are many players in MLS that are quite capable of playing in the bundesliga. Some of them would even be among the better players. But to compare the teams is kind of pointless, it's just apples and oranges, as the gap between the best players and the worst players on MLS rosters is just huge. From my Revs, I'd love to have Shalrie Joseph or Michael Parkhurst playing for Hannover - they'd be very good. But if Khano Smith ever took the field, he'd probably be tied up and sent on a boat back to Bermuda after his first game. :D

Just read (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/artikel/368107/) about Fahnes injury. :(

All the best for him and a fast recovery.

Well, every team has to cope with injures during pre-season and if this one stays our only (new) one that's not too bad.

He will probably only miss one game and I totally trust Zuraw and Kleine to do a good job.

Totally with Fräulein on this one.

At the training-camp in Austria 96 players and Hecking met with 96 fans to talk about the tensions between players and fans that evolved in particular after the fans boycotted to support the team against Bayern. Players were informed before the game about the reasons and that it was not targeted at the players. (had to do with Kind's treatment of the fans and plans to let the supporters union 'Rote Kurve" pay for fines handed to 96 by the DFB).
After that the players refused to acknowledge the northern stand but thanked the other stands which were much quieter than the north stand even on this day and after the last game of the season they didn't show up at the season-ending party disappointing mostly little kids who were patiently waiting for the heroes.
To put it short they acted like little children.

Enke said he never got the flyer (a lie apparently), Rosenthal and Halfar who were to informe the players about the reasons behind everything said "they didn't do it because that topic didn't come up".

Great. Shows how important we are. Not that I was expecting much anyway.

According to Hecking the team didn't join the season-ending party after the last home-game because they were told that there wouldn't be only kids but "drunk fans" as well. (Imagine that after a game. Maybe they should have organized something different then.) And we shouldn't forget all the things the team does for the fans like signing autographs etc..

I generally hate that it always seems that meeting with fans is such a big drag on the players. Of course I don't want it to fake enthusiasm but players shouldn't act like assholes when meeting with fans.
Rosenthal visited my collegue's 10 year old daughter's school (yeah those poor poor players have to do stuff like that once or twice a seaon - the horror) and he acted like a total jerk and let everyone see how he hated being there and run away pretty fast after the part where he was supposed to talk was over without signing autographs or talking with the kids.

There are expections of course, Stevie is always nice and does many charity things voluntarily and he and Lala (and former defender Linke) were also brave enough to meet with angry fans in the past and don't only appear when it isn't raining.
They don't get that huge amount of money only to play that 90 minutes of football every week, they also need to represent the club.

I liked some part that Hecking said though:
I know you are trying to preserve a vivid fan-culture. It's terrible what's going on at Bayern - 2000 Fans and the rest just costumers. But you have to understand the team as well. We need to talk to each other, the next meeting of the fans and the 'Fanbeauftragten' (responsible person to communicate between fans and club) will Augsut 2nd. I also think we need a press officer/spokesman to make some things right in the press.

The last sentence is a clear digg at Kind because he refuses to emply one.

If they were gonna do this it probably would have come off better if they had actually done it IN Hannover.

His other account was banned from YA, wasn't it?

Probably. I remember him getting a yellow card, so that's probably the reason.

That's a shame, especially about the players. The players in the US tend to be much better with the fans, although that's probably because they aren't overwhelmed as much by fans, so they appreciate them more. Some of it just comes down to the person, though. Some allow themselves to become spoiled, even here in the US, others stay more humble.

What do you think are the odds that they hire a spokesperson?

I'm taping it.
I don't get the hype about this game. Why is this sold out even though the tickets are more expensive than a game against Cottbus where we would have 26.000 maybe?
That Cottbus game would at least be important, you would see motivated players on both sides and tackles and fouls and intensity.

It's a test-game and we payed Real €1Mio to even play here. We didn't really "earn" a game against Real. Also, they just started their pre-season.

I saw them today btw. When I was waiting for the bus at the Aegi their bus drove by and stopped directly in front of the bus-stop where dozens of 96 fans were waiting.
The bus didn't have tinted glass windows so you could see them really well.
Most looked right through us but some were smiling and waving.

Shame I didn't have my camera with me.

I'm guessing it's because most 96 fans realize you have to pay extra if you want to see some REAL footballers. ;)

Crazy stuff.
Thorvaldsson has scored. And Lauth.

Enke is just Enke.

Still Real just started the pre-season, other than this is nice for us this has no real meaning.

Switched between Setanta online (Everton - Werder) and NDR.
Good showing by Hannover (to be fair, the opponent starts preparation,
but hey that´s Real Madrid), many good scenes and a superb Enke.
