Haha, good find. That's great, Funny is a cool cat. Don't agree about Neururer though.
Browsed the site a bit - If 96 was a film, which one would it be? - Citizen Kane. Why?
We have a new captain by the way. The team voted for Robert Enke. No surprise imo. Lala doesn't start anymore.
Hanke might not make the first BL game, Brdaric knee is still broken, Thorvaldsson might go to Gladbach and Hashemian wil not join the camp in Austria.
Lauth could start today against Köln, I hope he looks better than he did in the other games.
Looks like Hecking prefers Pinto and Yankov over Rosenthal right now but Jan admitted in a recent interview that his current form is pretty bad and that he deserves to be benched.

Yep, He got Neuruhrer wrong. But the rest of the interview is good. Anybody with a remote grasp of the German language should regularly check 11 Freunde, greates soccer magazine ever.

I buy the printed version every three months or so (I'm glad I didn't miss the edition with the huge Niedersachsenstadion poster) but I hardly ever check the hp. It's in my favourites but there are way too many great hps out there so I forget it all the time.
96 won 3:1 against 1. FC Köln
This was the starting formation:
----------------Enke------------------
-----------------------------------------
Cherundolo--Kleine--Zuraw--Tarnat
-----------------------------------------
----------Balitsch--Yankov------------
-----------------------------------------
---Rosenthal--Bruggink--Huszti ------- (I like that)
-----------------------------------------
----------------Hanke--------------
Goals:
Balitsch, Huszti (assist Rosenthal), Pinto (assist Krebs)

I'm very happy Zizzo landed a club like Hannover. Seems to be a place he can grow and develop at, have a chance to gain playing time, and the whole Cherundolo being there can't hurt at all.

This is awesome! I thought for sure he would be headed to Italy. He played real well in the u-20 world cup, at least until he picked up a slight knock. I think he'll be a good one.
Lee
I think he was brilliant in the game against Poland and not so great in the other games but I didn't know he got slightly injured.
Well, I posted this
I hope not for the kid's sake.
He wouldn't start and playing for the 96 reserves would harm his development much more than benefitting him.
at YA when someone suggested yesterday he might have signed with 96.
Of course I hope I'm wrong with this but imo at that ago young players absolutely NEED to play and not sit on the bench anywhere.
I'm don't think he'll play much for 96, maybe some sub minutes and the Oberliga reserve side is just bad. It's not a good place to develop, in fact I don't remember anyone ever making the fist team from the 96 reserves in the recent past. Rosenthal and Merte came straight from the juniors.
I like that he's fast, he could terrorize the right side with Rosenthal. It's a gamble but I hope it's worth it for 96 and Sal.
YA will only get better than it is. :D

Did you read the Heath Pearce thread? :D

My favourite threads are still the Onyweu threads though.
I'm addicte to "Yanks Abroad", entertainment for hours.
Who do you think is Jri? Sidefootsitter?

The Onyewu threads deserve their own forum. I never though anything could out-do the Landon threads we used to get, but Gooch's threads have taken it to a whole new level. :D
I'm always torn between whether I can't stand the Sidefootsitter/Golazo68(JRI) posts or whether I'm entertained by them. If I'm in a good mood, they're good for a laugh, if I'm in a bad mood, they make me want to gouge out my eyeballs after reading them.
JRI is just some random guy. Nutmeg is convinced SFS is Jaime Trecker, a not-so-respected soccer columnist, but I don't think he is.

Haven't gone through all of that one yet. :p
You know, I am not sure who sfs is. Then again, it's more than a one-man show in there.

I kinda like Sidefootsitter/Golazo68 because at least they/he ;) ae interested in the Bundesliga and German football and are/is for the most part well informed. Sometimes Sidefootsitter is a little bit irritating and to be honest I don't even think they are the same person because there are these typical posts that make me go "Uh?" that only SFS posts.
There are some posters with pretty "interesting" opinons about the level of play of US players and the MLS but on the other hand some of the German posters who think every Regionalliga team would destroy MLS teams are not better.
I have seen exactly one MLS game in my life so I don't really feel like I'm the right person to judge the level of play.
DF, the Heath Pearce thread is worth it even though it's definitly not your normal YA-lunacy - it's the Euros (including me) going totally off-topic there.

Will have to check it out.
In terms of MLS, the play has improved dramatically over the last 12 years and attendances are right around NHL, though I think some teams are better than others. ALSO, we are getting more ESPN coverage, which is a HUGE plus. Watching the Galaxy against Chelsea the other night, the difference in quality was easy to spot. HOWEVER, the Galaxy are having a horrible year and Chelsea are one of the best teams in the world. So..to use that as a comparison ..is pretty absurd. Both the Galaxy and Chelsea are the extreme of their leagues at the moment. I have to give you credit dear, and it is one of the reasons I adore you (meant as a great compliment). You haven't seen much and admit it. As for myself, I have seen quite a few, but not on any regular basis...so I might be a step up on you, but NOT by much. Is MLS, as a whole, comparable to any other league? I don't think I really care...I just know it has improved a hell of a lot in just 12 years....and is still improving.
