I loved when your fans chanted, "Berlin, Berlin, was wollt ihr in Berlin?!"

Did they really chant that?:D

Well, I think that the last 2 BVB games were nothing but a bluff (as Germany did in 1954)...;)

Sorry to argue about 1954 now, I know it's off-topic, but Germany didn't bluff, they were by all accounts a much weaker side in that final. In that game Hungary had to play with an injured Puskas, the referee I think cancelled out two legal goals, the German team was mostly on performance-enhancing drugs, it was pouring rain meaning the inequality between the two sides was minimized, etc. etc.

As you can tell, Hungarians are still quite bitter about that :D it was decades before I was even born, it remains the only time I can think of where I would have not supported Germany in a major tourney and furthermore gotten angry by their success.

Weak or not weak - fact is that it's impressive to come back after a 0:2 lag in a final against the top favourite!

Well, I see...:p;)

They did. It was f#cking classic!

No. I think the effort you saw in the Cup Final was for themselves and the fans. Their idiot coach is as good as history.

Howie has signed the former BMG talent Jan Schlaudraff (I'm still pissed off at our former club manager Pander for huckstering him to Aachen 2 years ago) for € 2 millions.

A great move for you guys in my opinion. Don't forget Schlaudraff played his best football under Hecking last season......

Agreed, ths should be a good signing... but I thought the same about Hash and Christiansen, so...

Good point.

However, Schlaudraff has a history with Hecking. A short one, but a history nonetheless.

The thing you guys will have to beware of is that Schladraff can be a moody, selfish bastard at times too.....

So true.

I think he's a good signing because he's
A - fast
B - creative
C - dangerous in front of the goal
D - technically gifted

it's not like we have many of those players. Should Huzsti leave we'd still only have one creative fast player though with Schlaudraff (Bruggink is creative but unfortunately he's as fast as a turtle).

Still, I don't expect too much, he had a lot of very average to bad games in 06/07 as well even though he certainly didn't have the most gifted teammates to play with (Pinto ;) ).

It's a step in the right direction but we still need to sign a backup RB, a forward (to me Schlaudraff is an atacking midfielder or left-winger) and a midfielder should Huszti leave to greener pastures.

Congrats on the signing, he should be very helpful for Hannover next season!

And a Hanke-Schlaudraff line-up in attack sounds pretty good to me...just remember not to give Lauth any minutes ;)

I am not at all please Bayern sold Jan Schlaudraff. Hannover96 just picked up a great player who was never given proper time on the pitch, nor put in the right position at Bayern. I certain wish him loads of success at 96, and hope he doesn't come back to bit Bayern in the arse!

Side note: I don't mention this often, but Steve Cherundolo grew up 4 houses up the street from me. Birthplace: Rockford, IL :)

Eissman. Come on. Schlaudraff "great?"

He's a pretty good player, but "great?" I don't think so. I think the best thing is that he's going to be re-united with the coach who got the best out of him.

I agree that he should do well for them, but "great?"

Me thinks you're a bit too strong with the complements..... ;)

Iran star Hashemian happy with Bochum return
tribalfooball.com - April 24, 2008

Hannover 96 Vahid Hashemian has confirmed he's returning to VfL Bochum on a Bosman next season.
The 31 year-old Iran international will move to Bochum on a two-year contract, with the option of another 12 months.

"I'm very happy to be returning to Bochum," said Hashemian. "I've already had some good discussions with Marcel Koller (Bochum coach)."

Good luck for the future Vahid!

I'd like to know how he characterizes Luca Toni. ;) The Italian must be "super mega great" then! :D

No, I weren't.
Apparently they als give games away when I'm not attending.

I just got tickets for the Rostock match though so there's a good chance for a nice little draw or a loss again. :D

I bought those 10-Euro tickets they offered to fill the stadium for a meaningless tuesday-night match. I will sit right next to the Rostock fans which should be interesting.

Imo the Rostock fans were the best away fans that have visited Hannover in the recent past, very loud, very united and very unique.

Since half of their hardcore fan-scene isn't allowed to go inside German stadums anymore because of stadium bans they probably aren't as scary anymore, still I'm looking forward to it.

Btw, 96 signed a central defender from Türkiyemspor (Berlin).
Leon Balogun is 19 and supposed to be a good prospect.

Nice to see that young players still sign for 96 even though it looks possible that 96 II will play 5th level next season.

96II only played 1:1 against Oberneuland yestersay.

3. (3.) Altona 93 28 14 7 7 27 59:32 49
4. (4.) BV Cloppenburg 28 13 9 6 15 48:33 48
5. (5.) TuS Heeslingen 29 14 6 9 10 48:38 48
6. (6.) VfB Oldenburg 26 14 5 7 18 51:33 47
7. (8.) FC St. Pauli II 29 14 5 10 14 45:31 47
8. (7.) Hannover 96 II 29 13 7 9 6 40:34 46

They need to finish 6th at least to make the playoffs, the 5th place seems unlikely now as Oldenburg still has three games in hand.

Imo Rosenthal and Krebs should play all games of the 2nd team from now because after 96's draw against Hertha the UI.cup is out of question anyway.

Yeah I know.
He said in an interview with the local paper HAZ that Hertha wanted to sign him as well but that he felt he had to get away from Berlin and his friends to develop as a player.

I guess there are too many distractions in Berlin.
