Just returned from the stadium.
That was horrible.

They played atrocious.

I actually felt ashamed for the Bundesliga watching this match, no pass reached it's target, they played the ball over the sideline without anyone pressuring them.
They were not able technically to receive a ball without it bouncing away, the didn't move without the ball, they were slow, they were scared, they were shaky in defense...
I could go on and on. I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm just glad they at least got a point and didn't let Karlsruhe get away too much even though in the end I'm pretty sure the 5 teams that are above us in the table will stay there.

How on earth did they manage to get 29 points? This game and the 1:5 against Cottbus really confuses me.

IMo the goal should have counted but to be honest, they wouldn't have deserved a win anyway.

It's funny to see how Simak turns cynical and realitistic 96 fans into babbling idiots. It's like he's their first and only love that's dumped them but they can't forget about her.
*sigh*

Poll at the fanmagazin forum:

Right now over 90% in favour of Jannemann returning.

They better do.

Lol. Doesn't even make sense but it sure sounds good. :D

Happy birthday Dolo!!!! He didn't invite me though that....

Do you think that cup will still be available against Bielefeld and can you chose which cup they give you? I want one, I REALLY do.
I still didn't get the 96 Coca Cola can. :(

Well, i think Hannover won a lot of new fans in the time he played for you.
And even as a no 96-fan i have to admit, that i often watched 2nd Bundesliga
at that time, because i liked how 96 and especially Simak played at that time.

Despite all the negative things, that happened, i would say, that Simak
and 96 was a sucess story. He was the missing piece for you to get promoted
in 2001/02 and his sale brought the highest transfer revenue in your club history.

If you should try to get him back now is another question.
He became a different player, he is more mature, but he doesn´t have the spectacular
playing style the people liked him for (and propably expect from him today, too).

All those cups seem to be available still. The Cherundolo one was introduced at the Karlsruhe match.
I ordered an "Alster" last sunday and got a Dolo cup by chance. Try to place a specific order for a beer or an "Alster" in a Cherundolo cup and if the staff are nice they will give you one.
If not, just find someone with the right cup who has just finished her/his beer and pay her/him 1 Euro deposit.

Hmm, that would be slightly embarassing but maybe I'# do it. :D

Other news:

* Hanke's girlfriend gave birth to their 2nd child today (theig daughter Jonatha-Fey is 11 months old). The (poor) kid's name is Jayron-Cain.

* Balitsch extended his contract till 2010

I don't really know how to feel about that, I'm not his biggest fan but I do respect him and like that he's a little more intense and tough than the rest of the team.

Back to Simak. Don't get me wrong, I think I'm one of those fans.. I'd love to see him here again despite what happnend and what he said, he was the best 96 player I have ever seen and to be honest even if he's not as good as back then when he got us promoted almost by himself I'm sure he's still better than Bruggink, Rosenthal or Pinto.
We need a player like him.

We need Stajmak back.

There was a baseball movie in the US called Major League. The movie centered on a team trying to put together a team from a bunch of rejects, has-beens and other crappy players. At training camp, two coaches are watching an old broken-down catcher, a shell of his former self, trying to make the team. They remember how good he was when he was younger and one says he wishes they had had him a couple of years ago. The second one reminds him that they did, and that he was washed up even then. The first coach says, well then I wish we had him a couple of years before that.

That's kind of my feeling about Simak. Not that he's all washed up, but he's just not close to the player we all remember. He might be a good player for us, but I think a lot of people would have the wrong expectations for him.

Simak won't join 96:

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/375397/

It's pretty clear though that he'll join another Bundesliga club, apparently a whole lot of them including Stuttgart and Karlsruhe are interested.

God, those fans at the German message board will get a nervous breakdown over this.
He broke their hearts again.

Really sorry about Simak. I guess that Basturk deal is working out well for Stuttgart eh???

I would see Simak as nothing more than a fringe player for us, though if he comes I would hope i'm wrong.

If that Basturk deal had been what Heldt thought it would be there'd be no reason to be interested in Simak. I told you guys there was no way in hell Basturk would be worth 3M per. No way in hell.

And what you said about Simak could be true if he joins Stuttgart.

But I don't think that is what will happen. I'll bet if you guys do get him, he'd wind up playing ahead of Basturk....

Heldt will probably try to sell Basturk to a Turkish club to get that salary off the Stuttgart books.

Oh well. As we say in the US Military, "I have no dog in this fight."

I just thought it would be "nice" to see Simak go back to Hannover and "redeem himself" for his last stint there.

I don't want to discuss Basturk again before the season ends, as that's when we'll be able to truly evaluate his performance and whether he can help the club in the future.

But if he were to leave in the summer, and we got Simak now, we'd probably buy another creator in June/July, leaving us with Simak and another creator at our disposal. But these are all hypotheticals.

@Hannover fans: sorry if this is off-topic.

Hanke tries to sneak one in at the near post

In the first 10 minutes, H96 with better possession, more pressure down the right, but nothing on the end of anything

Hannover now doing their very best to let Bochum get into the game.

22 Feb 2008, 03:18 PM
They'll end up finishing around the 10th place again.

They had about three good games this season imo, just not tatented enough and I hate this Hanke as the lone striker system.

I'd rather reach the UEFA cup once or win the cup like Nurenberg and then suck the next season than never winning anything or reach an UEFA cup berth.

Teams that played in the UEFA cup:
Bochum, Freiburg, Frankfurt, Nürnberg, Mainz...

It's depressing.

They are really not supporting him at all. Also, he needs a better first touch. BUT he is about the most dangerous player out there. My stream really sucks, but it also seems like the H96 defense is pants

And having said that

Dolo own goal

crap!
