Hannover keen on Forssell - PA Sport

Mikael Forssell's unhappy spell at Birmingham could end with German side Hannover interested in signing the Finnish international.

Blues boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that City have held talks with Hannover regarding Forssell who had a successful loan spell in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach in 2003.

Forssell scored 19 goals in his first season with Birmingham on loan from Chelsea in 2003-2004 before eventually making the move permanent but since then little has gone right.

A knee problem kept him sidelined for the best part of two years and this season Forssell has gradually slipped down the pecking order with Nicklas Bendtner, Cameron Jerome, DJ Campbell and now Andrew Cole ahead of him in the striking department.

Bruce said: "The ball is in Hannover's court. There has been a bit of dialogue between the clubs."

"I will sit down with Mikael in the summer and see what the options are but, as for anything materialising, I'm not sure."

Birmingham striker Mikael Forssell is in talks with Hanover, with a view to a £2m move. (Daily Mirror)

Interesting considering he has been injured most of this season

Interesting considering he has been injured most of this season

Well, that's what a club like 96 has to do. We don't have the money or prestige to lure healthy forwards that can score to us.

So, Squig and TOLH, how was the game and day in Hannover?
What did you do here? Frühlingsfest?

Is was very nice! Yes we did go to the fest, me Squig and pepper, good times by all. Enjoyed the seats, N17, good views. You are right about hte sound, it really does escape the stadium unfortunately :( Also got a top-notch tour of hte city from Squig, and on my own, went through the shopping districts of Hannover.

Hannover is very green. :)

Were you in Linden or the List?
Because those are pretty special neighbourhoods imo, much nice and more interesting than the rather ugly shopping district.

Yes, Hannover is really green but Wolfsburg is as well but unlike Wolfsburg, Hannover has also a pretty high density which is great imo.

Bruggink for forward!
Really, that would solve all our problems, I don't like him as a playmaker because he makes the game slow but unlike our so-called forwards he knows where the goal is.

Yankov stays in Hanover
Hannover 96 and Slavia Sofia have agreed a transfer fee which will make Chavdar Yankov's move to Hanover a permanent one.

The Bulgarian international is on loan at Hanover since the 2005-06 season.

Four-year contract

He has now signed a contract until June 30th 2007.

"We are delighted that the long negotiations have come to a successful end now", 96 sporting director Christian Hochstätter said.

"I'm happy to keep on playing for Hannover 96. It took a load off my mind", Yankov added.

It's always nice to keep players that really want to stay here.
I remember when he said: "I'm going to cry if I have to go."

Yeah, maybe (ok, probably) it's because I'm a girl but that made me "awwwwwwwwww". :D

Of course he's also a good player with a lot of talent and one of not many 96 players with a really good technique.

I'm going to see the game tonight. There will be lots of ugly Cottbus fans as well because Energie sponsered the train-ride for the fans (nice gesture though).

96 also sold thousands of 10 Euro tickets so it's going to be quite full.
This is going to be my first time sitting on the West, should be interesting.

Don't know what to think about Radu, I fear that he could turn out a lot like Hashemian here on the other hand he seems to create scoring opportunities out of nothing very much unlike Hashemain who is useless when he doesn't get nice crosses.

Where do you usually sit?
I think hanover should try to invest in younger forwards, and definetly put more money into that (not saying that you will get a good player with more money, but it isn possible).
We will play a friendly against real Madrid in Juli btw.
Hertha als der BSC, realer als Madrid!

I usually sit in N12 or N13.

I saw the Bayern in O13 last season, those were tickets my father got a day before the game trough dirty channels though. :D

Great seats but boring people there.

Off to the game now.

Huszti :)

Yes, the little Hungarian had a great game as did the whole team.

This must have been Cottbus' worst game of the season because they sucked pretty bad.
It looked like a Bundesliga team playing a Regionalliga side, some stats:

Shots (on Goal): 24 - 6
Corner Kicks: 8 - 3
Time of Possession: 65% - 35%

Today I really feel for Hashemian, poor guy had a really good game imo but he must have lost his goal scoring instinct (is there a more fitting word for Torriecher??) somewhere and doesn't know where to find it.
He wasted three sure goals and after the last one he was clearly mad at himself.
That's also why I don't know if it would be such a good idea to sell him. Maybe he just needs that one goal to get his confidence back .

If only for one decent forward this team could really go places.

God (Enke) was great again (kicker will rate him 3 probably). You just know that he'll be there when he's needed, no matter if he bored himself to death for 80 minutes before. That was a great great safe. He's so calm.

And what to say about Jan-Arnold Bruggink?
He's arrived.
He was bad, I mean terribly bad in the first games and now he's been good for 5 straight. Something must have changed in the meantime but I don't know what.
He's still slow so my best guess is that Hecking must have changed the system a bit to make up for it. He's deadly in front of the door, great shot and incredibly calm, he could teach our so-called forwards a thing or two.

Bad elbow by da Silva, hope he gets suspended for it.

The only bad thing about yesterday night is that they didn't score as many goals as they could have done, like 8 or 10.
96 needs to improve their goal differential otherwise they will miss out on Europe because of one goal, that would suck but be just our luck.

The whole stadium had a good laugh about Energie's uniforms, to say that the colour is kinda unfortunate would be an understatement imo.

My new nickname for Rosenthal is Flipper. He also needs to learn to not hold on to the ball for so long, he's frustrating to watch right now.

Well, that's it, I love the team no matter if they reach Europe or not.

Congrats to Hanover! It's amazing to see how fast you can move from a nearly relegation spot to a nearly UEFA cup spot...

According to the Rangers' website we'll also play a friendly at home against the blue Glasgow club. Celtic would have been my preferred choice, but you can't have anything I guess.
Their website also states that we never won the title, that is wrong, we were German champion in 38 and 54. The Bundesliga did not exist back then, though.

According to the local paper NP is Hannover 96 interested and has chances to get the following players:
Gaetan Krebs (Sportfreunde Siegen | On loan from racing Strasbourg)
Mikaell Forssel (Birmingham City)
Mohamed Zidan (FSV Mainz)

Zidan would be great!

I want that little Frenchie! :D

There's an article in the kicker that talks about bruggink transformation from sucktastic to fantastic a little bit. ;)

The reason for the improvement lies in the 4-2-3-1 system Hecking established, the core of which is Arnold Bruggink.
Szabolcs Huszti, one of the most effective wingers of the league and Jan Rosenthal who is always causing trouble are helping the 29 year old making the play and also run for the Dutch who isn't the fasted. Rosenthal. "Arnold loses no ball and his passes are very precise",
Behind the trio the defensive mids Balitsch and Yankov provide stability and support Bruggink. Balitsch: "He doesn't have to go such long distances to the back this way and can go to the front instead and use his skill and calm to score goals."

Everyone in the team is carrying Bruggink and he thanks them with goals. He scored six already, all of them in the 2nd half of the season. With six goals he's Hannover's best goal-scorer (what does that say about our forwards!) and an important reason for the improvement.
"I feel much fitter than in the beginning when I had problems with the pace of the game. Furthermore our midfield clicks much better", a smiling Brugging says. Hecking admitted that he had almost "written off" the Dutch.

Accoding to the German forum there's talk about Cherundolo signing till 2010,
That would be awesome, he's so underrated as a player and important for me as a an because he identifies so much with the fans and city.
In these times of players who only stay for a season or two and then leave for more money that's always nice to have.

I would love to have Forsell here but I'll believe it when I see it, 2.000.000 is quite a lot money for 96 and it seems that there are still a lot problems with his club and now it looks like his manager at Birmingham is thinking abut keeping him and he'd like to stay as well.

Looks a lot like the Buffel situation. But what can you do if the press starts speculating.

Don't laugh now - fare dodgers (leo's only option). :D

Really, apparently no other city in Germany catched so many people rifing public transport without a ticket (because they check more here) and because of that Hannover is #2.
It's rather funny. Doesn't really make this a dangerous city to live.

When Squig was still here, Hannover wasn't even in the top 10 I think, maybe he's a superhero like Spiderman and when left things got bad, really bad.

And thanks for posting in this thread, I hope it's not only because of pity. ;)

I so want that cup, even if it's 10€ but so far nobody bought one for me (and I refuse to buy it myself).
