I was at the game today, and i had a few questions for y'all.
Does freddy adu get a long leash? As you know, I don't watch much mls, but I have no clue how freddy avoided a dissent action today. Or is this a problem with dissent unpunished accross the entire league?
Someone will have more experience with this than me, so correct me if I'm wrong. Given the nature of the games, it seems like baseball, basketball, and football fans razz the referees just on principle. Seems fairly benign. But no one really can tell if it was a strike, wasn't a foul, was a hold, etc. Seemed to me like the soccer fans actually think they are right when they complain? Anybody else get this impression?

Having umpired little league when I was 12 as my first officiating experience... I have to tell you, baseball fans can get a lot worse than benign. (By the way, benign is spelled very strangely).
But I totally get what you're saying. I think that is very funny.

I think MLS referees let a lot of dissent go. It wasn't just Adu who was clearly dissenting without getting booked. A Crew player sent the ball after a whistle and was not booked.
The game was called fairly and consistently; I have no complaints.
I don't boo the refs, but I will boo a foul.
Utah has the highest per capita youth soccer participation in the US. I assume that we also have a high proportion of soccer moms and dads. So of course they are right; they've seen games before, and they want MLS games called just like Johnny's u-little games are called (mistakes and all ;) )
