Most people predictably like the great individual strikes best, but my favorite goals have always been the work of two or more players.

The best goal of World Cup 2006 is easily the Cambiasso goal for Argentina against Serbia-Montenegro. There were like six or seven different passes that set up the goal, it was awe-inspiring to watch.

Also Chelsea scored a late winner against Watford on 31 March by which Ballack won the ball well, and the ball was being moved quickly down the field and Shevchenko crossed to Kalou with defenders around him, heading the ball in the net, it was an awesome goal.

Maybe I like those goals best because this is a team sport, and great teams shine when everyone is in on the action. A great individual goal-scorer, on the other hand, can make a bad team look good. Sure enough, this game is also one of great individual play, so they cannot be discounted, so I love those goals too, but I will always prefer the team goals.

Also I think the set-up man has a tougher task than the finisher in many cases, and a great goal can be mostly attributed to the guy who set it up, who of course won't get the credit for it, because the guy who scores it is the one people look at, and is probably the reason why people's memories of favorite goals always start from the foot or head of the guy who scored it, and not before that.

Got to say, I never thought that goal was as good most people. A lot was made purely on the number of consecutive passes in the build up*, as though that in itself goes a long way to contribute to 'greatest goal'. The play around the box and and the set up pass/assist was sharp, and don't get me wrong, it was a lovely team goal and one of the best at that tournament.
But I am unwilling to give much credit to the minute or so the ball was moved along the halfway line, and passed around the midfield under little pressure. I think I only count what was going on in the final third before and during a goal. Unless its a 40yard rocket.

*I did note that you said 6 or 7 passes, not the 20 odd passes I've heard quoted.

Anyways... I like diving headers, further out the better!:)

I agree with you fully, which is why I like Manuel Negrete's goal vs. Bulgaria in wc86 as my favourite all-time goal. Negrete and his teammate half volley the ball back and forth to each other just on the edge of the penalty box.

I don't think I will ever see a goal like that in my lifetime again.

i also enjoy the teamwork goals, however when it comes to individual goals, nothing beats when a guy is just dribbling along with seemingly no intent and all of a sudden just blasts the ball into the back of the net out of nowhere

I like this one better than the one in 2006. It was done in quick nd short passes under small space.

Did any one see Quaresma's latest goal for Portugal?? It was against Belgium in the Euro 2008 qualifiers. I like it: one touch to fcuk the defender and the second a rocket.

Another was Mancini's goal against Lyon in the CL. Amazing. Simular was Zizou's goal against Deportivo la Coruna. I think it was 2002-2003. He took the whole defense to school in the box and unleashed a left footed blast into the net.

Thats the way I like em, you cant just run or sneak past the defender, or outjump him for a header. You have to show him who's boss.

For me, the greatest 'team' goal was Milan's second goal against Barcelona in the '94 European Cup final. Youtube only has the finished product, but the leadup was breathtaking as Milan worked the ball from the left side of the pitch to the right, back to the left until Massaro ultimately rammed the ball home. I think there were around 15 passes in all - can't remember - and most of it in the last third of the field. It came right on halftime so everyone probably thought Milan was simply playing the clock out, but when the ball went in I felt that was one special goal. And I'm a Barcelona fan!

Turkey - Belgium 1997 (Oktay Amazing Goal)

One of Turkey's most talented soccer player Oktay Derelioğlu scores by passing 7 opponents including the keeper.

What was your point? I went through the whole clip (painful enough;) ) expecting some awesome goals, but they were all pretty common...

Collectively not :p Well, maybe it wasn't the best example. But the "jeu ą la nantaise" is known for its one-touch pass playing. Many say that Nantes 95 was the nicest, most beautiful French team ever seen before Marseille 91 or Reims 56.

This goal is incredible. :)

My favorite Goals are the ones scored by Banbury United, Oxford United and England, however scrappy they may be. Conversly my least favorite goals are the ones scored against the aformentioned teams, however good they may be.

I really like long, hard shots from deep out. clarence seedorf's goal for milan is perfect, imho. (and don't lecture me about bad goalkeeper positioning, i don't care. i want to see rockets.)

This goal just proves that there are better goals tahn Maradona's. Messi's was better and I think this was the best I've ever seen. Its just that Maradonas is given the most hype.

EDIT: Im talking about the Turkey goal.
