I am very impressed with Cristiano Ronaldo, Totti, Drogba, and Kaka. Is there anyone else that should be mentioned with these guy's?

Personally. I think its now between Drogba and Ronaldo.
Totti was definitly in the running, but the spanking by Manchester United and the 2 goal performance from Ronaldo has in my opinion boosted Ronaldo above Totti in the award.
Now its between Drogba and Ronaldo. I think whatever teams comes out with more silverware between the CL, FA Cup, and the EPL Title race, that particular stand out player will win the award.
But....2nd in goals in the EPL, 1st in assists.....Now 2 goals in the CL with a couple of assists. A decent showing at the World Cup. A good Fa Cup run....
Ronaldo looks good right now.

As much as I dislike the bloke, C Ronaldo has been awesome for Man U this season and last. Kaka has been brilliant aswell.
imo, kaka has been the second best player in serie a, and he has done absolutely brilliantly in the cl, except for the bayern tie, plus milan is still in it. if kaka closes strong in the league, plus he can play well and help milan win the cl, then kaka leaps to the front. other than that, if totti is healthy and once the shock of the 7-1 defeat fades a little, then people might look at totti's season, which has been phenomenal, and if roma can bring home the coppa italia, he would be serie a's top candidate ( granted the coppa is not big hardware, but still, when combined with second place in the league and a quarterfinal place in cl, considering a "roma multiple" as they are not a giant so those are good accomplishments, is nice. the problem totti has is that united and chelsea are going to bring home the two major pieces of hardware from the epl and could bring home the cl. if totti wants to win this, he would need a split from united and chelsea where one takes the league and the other takes the fa cup, plus needs liverpool to take home the cl while ronaldo, drogba, and kaka don't look too impressive in those competitions. these things have a very small chance of all happening).
so, the odds right now would be
1 ronaldo (as united is set up very good to win multiple hardware)
2 (tie) drogba/kaka
4 totti (if the split, plus liverpool cl scenario plays out, his chances go up)
(I really can't think of any other players that are even close to these four for this year, as ibra was having a whale of a season, but has been hurt, plus inter crashed out of cl, other main candidates from years past, like eto'o, henry, sheva, etc. have all had injuries or poor form, or bad results form team [this would be dinho's undoing this year], etc.)
but these will change depending on the outcome of the remaining competitions, and also injuries, or drastic loss of form, et al can put a big wrench in anyone's chances
note: this is not who I think is the best, or "deserves" it, just where, imo, the main contestants this season currently stand. I actually put little stock in these awards, and instead really enjoy seeing who are the ridiculous inclusions/snubs that show how dumb the media and voters for these awards can be ( adriano in 2006 for instance  )
thoughts?

Giggs' name should be included even though I think the top spot should go to Mr Ronaldo.

it's very difficult (though not impossible) for two players fromt he same team to make a serious run at the awards (not saying it's right or wrong, but is very tough). with that being said, i think giggs is below those four mentioned in the thread already, anyways.

i agree that ronaldo should win the award this year. the only other guy that i would mention that MAYBE should be included is ibrahimovic. i don't think he should be included with the top 3 but if inter would have advanced a little further in the cl than maybe you could have included him in the discussion with ronaldo, drogba and totti.
imo, ronaldo has this award won already.

Unless Milan wins the CL, C Ronaldo is going to win.
If Milan wins, than I think Kaka deserves more. Because he is being sacrificed playing in a position that makes him much worse and is still helping the team a lot.
And his number of assists should be much higher if Gilardino could score at least a handfull of goals.
But if Cristiano wins, it's well deserved too.
Drogba is number 3.

Agreed. C. Ronaldo is definitely ahead of everyone at this point. If Kaka' can lead AC Milan past Man. U. and Liverpool/Chelsea with good performances, I'd say he has a shot. Although I consider it very unlikely AC Milan will win the CL.

Depends who wins the CL. If its not Chelsea, Ronaldo will win the trophy.
Part of the reason I'm tentative to give it to Ronaldo is that he has failed to really deliver in some of the biggest games United have played (until the Roma game). In the Arsenal games, the Liverpool games and the Chelsea game he was a negligible presence. Drogba scored twice to win the Carling Cup, scored twice in two games against Barcelona, scored against Valencia, scored an absolute beauty against Liverpool and saved our bacon several times with late goals (including that spectacular effort against Everton). If he can carry that form into a CL final and win, I think he gets the nod.

What if neither Manchester or Chelsea or Milan win the CL?
Gues it'll come down to the EPL and FA Cup.

Ronaldo, because he's flashier and because United will likely win the league. For Drogba to win this award he probably has to score a goal in the CL final.

I agree with all the names above but I feels Torsten Frings should be on the list....He does amazing work for the German NT as well as for Werder Bremen. Just because it's Bundesliga, doesn't mean certain players like Frings, Diego, Lincoln, Lahm, Mertesacker for example should be ignored.

Then let's hope Stevie G. puts on another phenomenal performance in the CL final :D and steals it.

Come one....he's german and it's the Bundesliga.....you know that.
If any German had a realistic chance at the award it was Lehmann or Klose last year and they weren't even close so forget it this year.

C. Ronaldo... David Villa has been awesome too.... it's a Copa-America year so maybe there will be a standout player there too.

Do you honestly think that they would be ahead of C. Ronaldo?
