I currently play rec soccer, the level that is not very competitive with nonprofessional coaches extra. The reason is because it is my first season in four years. But I want to move up to a 'select' division.

The tryouts for the higher divisions are in late May. Although I am practicing with my current team, I need tips, practice suggestions ect to help raise my chances of getting on the team.

So if anyone has any suggestions over the following I will be very grateful:
-How to increase ball control
-How to increase shot accuracy, speed and technique in general
-Dribbling drills ect
-What work outs I should do to increase strengths in vital muscles needed to increase stanima, speed, endurance and all of the other important aspects
-A practice plan would also be nice (what drills to do, in what order for best results)

Thank you!!!

well for me to increase ball accuracy and control i always practice with a size 4 or even 3 before games and during practice. If you can hit a small ball correctly a 5 ball will be child's play. As far as working out i mostly do aerobic like cycling and rowing and then weights i focus on my legs. Remember stamina will take you much farther than having big muscles. i dun really have a set plan since i juggle school and work plus soccer.

I would say get into a daily thing, I have nothing to do everyday after school, So I go up to school and just do a number of things. A good way to get better at something is just to keep doing it over and over. Also go here and look around there are a few good drills you can do. www.sparqtraining.com (http://www.sparqtraining.com/) Also find a good video on the internet for footwork and just keep doing it over and over untill you get it. Also make sure you run alot, and make sure you hit the weights hard, I have seen my leg get so much stronger over the past year, just from weights. Also just juggle with the ball, to get a good feel for it. I have been playing all my life, and I still juggle. It will help with ball controll, you can ever have good enough ball controll. Also if you can, in your rec. league play with the older kids, I am 14 and I play with 16-17 year olds, on my club team and that really helps also.

The spaniard there gave good advice. Do some cross training. Doing soccer every day will make you prone to injury. Check out some DVD's. You might get some tips from that and exercises you can do for speed, control, etc.

In sports, unless you have terrible technique, there are few places where practicing will not be a good thing. I think you need to figure out what this team wants, how that compares to your strengths and weaknesses and then make a plan to make your strengths stronger and mitigate your weaknesses.
