it's been 3 months to the day since Sons of Ben was 'officially' founded, and in that time we have, what i feel, are some very impressive facts and statistics:
current registered membership (not including PPSF mailing list) is at 111
our homepage (www.sonsofben.com (http://www.sonsofben.com)) has received over 3,800 visitors since it went online
we have gotten coverage in the Philadelphia Weekly (see the first article HERE (http://www.philadelphiaweekly.com/view.php?id=14386)), and will be getting coverage in both FourFourTwo Magazine (http://www.fourfourtwo.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Home/0,,11442,00.html) and Guardian UK (http://sport.guardian.co.uk/)
we have gotten television airtime, and were interviewed by the Versus Channel at the March 24, 2007 Philadelphia KiXX game (see the interview HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKIijywU3t0))
we have mobilized and created merchandise including banner, scarf and shirt
used new media types such as myspace to reach out to young networkers
worked with PPSF to further the mission of bringing MLS to Philadelphia
i'm sure there are plenty more, and you're more than welcome to add to this list.
now all we need is a team, and we're golden!

We have plans to have our own beer at some point...
if it's bottled, can we have custom labels made for them?
or are we talking kegs? :D

If someone wants to help me bottle, cause it's a bitch, and someone else wants to make the labels, sure. I was thinking kegs, though I don't yet have the equipment. Bottling would make it happen a lot sooner...
I could also bottle into growlers (1/2 gallon bottles) and gallon bottles...that's a fantastic idea, Mark! Oh, there's the answer. Easy to do and tailgate-friendly...
If I didn't have the grains and hops for what I'm brewing in an hour already purchased I'd be making it today.
Maybe next weekend I'll have some time to brew...

Not only does it have Franklin on the label, it comes in a BLUE BOTTLE! I think it's fantastic, though the taste may not be for everyone, and it's kind of hard to find at this point...
i've had it before, but granted, it's been a while. i got it at the foodery, which is located at 10th and pine.

Hah, you quoted me before I thought it silly and removed it.
The Foodery is awesome. The new one in Northern Liberties is even better.

FMP ... check it out kids, and run to borders (or your favorite bookstore of choice) to pick up your copy as soon as they hit news stands, which i'm assuming will be sometime in may.

Speaking of 4-4-2, I found this great article on the NASL on their site:
http://www.fourfourtwo.premiumtv.co.uk/page/BigRead/0,,11442~965214,00.html (http://www.fourfourtwo.premiumtv.co.uk/page/BigRead/0,,11442%7E965214,00.html)
Which even includes the phrase "wanking monkey."

Anything that includes the phrase "wanking monkey" is OK in my book.

In my opinion, it is a supreme honour that we are being featured in FourFourTwo. An honor for which I am extremely grateful.

and if i may add to that ...
it's one thing to get any kind of press coverage at all, yet here we are, without a team presently, and we're going to be known both at home and abroad. we have something with loads of potential going here, so let's continue to have faith and keep the buzz going for MLS in philly.

so we've had a whee blurb in both the Phila Weekly and Metro ... we know we'll be in the june issue of FourFourTwo ... any word on if/when there will be a larger article in either of those 2 philly publications, or the Guardian for that matter?
