Apparently MLSnet is still in preaseason mode. They have the following listed as the crew of tonight's match:

REFEREE: Jair Marrufo. SAR (bench): Jose Corro; JAR (opposite): David Bragg; 4th: Tim Weyland

However, ussoccer-data has:

Vaughn, Terry W
Rockwell, Corey E
Monje, Emiliano
Stott, Kevin

I wondered why Marrufo would get FC Dallas twice in 5 days...and why that entire crew was working together again...now I know...they aren't.

Just thought I would point out who the crew is since this is a televised match tonight and I don't want anyone tuning in to just to see Jair and be disappointed:(

Actually the snow was melted by game time. I didn't check the pitch, but it's down by the river and it doesn't always drain well. The local team played, but they have a new artificial surface. A friend was there a said it was pretty cold - I think it got down to 30F by the end of the third game.

I had high hopes for Mark Geiger in the last RSL game against Houston. In the beginning it seemed like there was hope for this Referee but quickly it all changed. Actually he is quite superior when it comes to officiating Major league soccer. How? He is close to the top of the list as one of the worst referees MLS has. Wait most referees the MLS has are HORRIBLE. Where do they find these guys? Are they government workers (NO accountability)? It is time that the MLS holds their officials accountable for their decisions. If anything will kill the momentum of Major League Soccer in the USA it will be the poor quality of officiating. Hold these guys accountable for their actions and penalize their $3,500 pay checks.

What am I talking about?
1. Chris Wingert – Red Card OK but Yellow for Instigator Corey Ashe… THAT’S CRAP!
2. How about the “Flagrant Hand Ball” by Goalie Pat Onstad out of the box? NO CALL!
3. At times I thought I was watching another sport because of the constant leveling of players when in the box.
4. There are just too many examples to mention.

I have to mention the NO CLASS play by Houston not returning the ball to RSL after Brian Ching took a five minute dive. I spoke with him personally during the game and he even felt like that was classless by his team. As a national player he should have taken the initiative to return the ball.

Some of the calls are so BAD that it screams online gambling scams. What? A ref might bet on the game… Yes it looks like the refs are supplementing their $3,500 check with an online bet.

The events that transpired in the last minutes of the RSL – Houston game by the fans, players, and coaches was out cry for the league execs. to pull their heads out of their butts and do something about this crap.

WHY did this have to be posted in a thread that was over a year old?

Better question, WHY did this have to be posted at all?

You mean the players? because if you mean the ref's you are far mistaken as to what they are getting paid. It's less than 1/7th of that!

Lol im going to actually respond to this.

If anything is going to kill the momentum of soccer in America it is the players. How can so many players miss passes, miss shots, make stupid fouls, not hustle, and play no defense? We should hold these players accountable for every missed pass and missed shot and take it out of their 3,500 paycheck(more realistic for a player). How is it ok for players to make inumerable mistakes and not be held accountable?

You mention two, TWO, incidents in particular where you believe Geiger erred. Please show me one player who does not make double that number of mistakes nightly. When a player misses a wide open net we chuckle and clap, when a referee makes a call at midfield, even when you have no idea what the call is about you presume from 100m away that he is wrong.

Now for your last two comments, first how is it possibly in the referees control if players apply sportsmanship and pass the ball back?

The comment about online gambling im not even going to respond to, it is so baseless and ridiulous i dont even know where to start.

So sir, i suggest you think about what you just said, realize that referees are NOT out to get you, have NO interest in the otucome of the game, and make FAR less mistake than even the best players. It is obviously biased, missinformed, childlike fans like you that truly hold back soccer in this country.
