I just started playing soccer, and I have a lot of time on my hands in the afternoon. Could someone please help me develop a plan to help me get better? I have about 3 hours each day..so can I can devote an hour to conditioning, an hour to skills, and an hour to weights or something else..

You'll injure yourself very quickly if you work on skills and conditioning 3 hours per day. All great players are great because they do the basics very well. The basics are: passing, receiving the ball, dribbling, and shooting.

Receiving the ball is the hardest skill to master. The best way to start is to juggle endlessly. You need to develop the feel for the ball and learn to adjust your body shape relative to the flight path. I won't kid you, this takes years of practice to get it right. Focus on the first touch, the rest you'll find easy.

In the next few months I'll be putting up an entire website devoted to training by yourself, so until then work on your touch!

When you have that done let me know also please. I also have a lot of time on my hands after school. So I go to the soccer field when the girls are done and work for about 2 hours ever other day or so. I am not new to the game or anything, I have been playing since befor 1st grade, but learning a new drill can never hurt.

Thanks

+1 on the first two, dribbling and shooting is alittle more advanced, there are many players that can't do that well but all good players can pass and receive pretty good. imo

Receiving is everything, find a wall to kick against if you train by yourself. If you are 2, stand across the field and kick longballs to eachother. This helps both passing and receiving.

what loden said is very true....trapping/recieving with the body (not just the feet) takes quite a long time....I came back from a major injury/surgery.....it took about 4 months until I could trap the ball almost the way I use to.....it takes time and dedication

when I first started.....I worked on getting the basics back
these were all done through practise and incroporated in league matches
passing and shooting....then passing/shooting on the run...trapping with the chest, thighs, legs
working on the weaker leg
the feints with body, dribbling, one touch passing....etc.

If you are out of shape and need to work on your endurance or speed I suggest you do it with a ball. For example run around the field for 30 minutes with the ball 3 times a week or something and try to look up more and more. It'll do wonders for ball control. After a month of that you could add some suicide runs with the ball again and later shorts sprints.

Hi.

If you want to send me a private message feel free. I work as a soccer coach and would be more than happy to help.

If you find you are gonna be training alone, then there is a product called the wave that might help.. Also try a wall... less technical and cheaper.

Concentrate on the basics.. ball control, dribbling and passing.

Again if you want more in depth help shoot me a pm

Hi, I'm in the exact same boat. I'd like to become a better soccer player over this summer...I'm fairly good but nothing special, and I want to work hard to become great.
