Not 100%, but a huge possibility.

I wanted him there awhile back, but now I think it may be alittle too late. His speed is gone, and that's what they need in the National Team.

Thoughts?

honestly, we dont need him. He is a great player for Dc but I doubt he will do anything against teams in Copa America.

He was keeping the bench warm there, and would normally come in as substitute. He started very few games.

MARCO convinced him to play in MLS because it was a great league, and he did. Back then, Marco was considered almost like a saint. YOu do as he says.

Not a smart move.

Moreno had a good game Saturday. I like that he's running and creating far more then previous month / years.

If he continues to play aggresive, he will definantly make an impact on the National team.

I would like to see him play against Ireland and El Salvador.

odd considering the fact that some people on the Dc United boards are asking to bench for his lousy play on saturday. I personally didnt get to see the match... but he seems a little slow

Fin y punto.

I was in Columbus. Jaime didn't have a good game but then again neither did the rest of the team. I still see flashes of the old Moreno from time to time, but no question he's slowing down. He'd make a great 60th minute sub here in the near future but I don't think his pride will let him accept that role.

Wow! I guess Moreno is in better shape then we thought! He has more to show when he plays teams that don't know him well I assume.

Is Moreno the reason why Pinedo is not part of the team?

Moreno in my opinion is doing what etcheverry did, hes become that drawn back forward who really isnt there to take shots or finish oppurtunities unless they are clear. Hes there to set players up like other forwards or midfielders. Sort of to T- off the balls, and set it up while playing up top. Hes not fast enough and doesnt have that killler scoring instinct anymore. He looks more now to pass than to take the shot.

Why in the hell is Moreno on the team. Ok he got his appreciative call-up for Ireland, don't tell me this guy is gonna be our starter for Copa America
From what I know he hasn't shown anything for his club this year, no longer has speed, and correct me if I'm wrong did he not go out of the Ireland game due to his back acting up again?

I know some of u saw the Ireland game and were impressed with him. Do I need to remind everyone that Ireland team he "showed flashes of brilliance" against was a C or D team.

What the hell is Sanchez thinking, if he's bringing him in for experience and leadership fine, just don't play the guy. You're using a valuable experience like the CopaAmerica on a guy who will not be any part of our world cup qualifying or our future. WTF????

well said and I agree,

I will be upset if he gets more playing time than Pinedo or Arce. Moreno is a better than avarage player and fine if this were a frienldy, but for important competitions like Copa America we need to bring in players that will be there for us come later on this fall when we start the qualifications for the 2010 WC. Moreno probably wont be there, and right now we need our young guys to step up.

Hopefully he can help coach the guys in practice. His experience is invaluable. But as much as I like Jaime, I agree. Not sure what Sanchez is thinking.

You guys are actiing like he was playing Milton coimbra or something. For those that were actually at the game who watched moreno play, it wasnt the moreno that is in DC right now, it was a different one(meaning his touch on the ball, his brilliance). And to those that didnt see him play yet with la seleccion you have no right to talk, as you have no merit.

Fact is, no one can do the job that moreno was given to by platini, better than him. Pinedo didnt show good holding quality, when playing with the adult nats team didnt do jack. Just run around like a chickent with his head off, now yes he showed alot of hustle and strength but that was it. Who else do we have for up front??

Delanteros: Juan Carlos Arce, Nelson Sossa, Pablo Salinas, Augusto Andaveris, Jaime Moreno y Diego Cabrera.

I dont see anyone that plays the good holding, take up time while he gives a through ball to arce' type forward on this list? Do you?

You guys are hating on the guy because he isnt doing much right now for DC. Its garbage, reminds me of what they would talk about etcheverry when he started playing in DC. Discrediting him and saying hes over the hill.

Yes moreno is close, but not quite over the hill yet.
And the reason why he isnt so successful in MLS anymore, becasue everyone has learned to cover him and do what they have to so he doesnt pull a '04.

Is juan pablo angel still going to be thrashing the MLS like he is this year? No. The teams will learn from their mistakes and take him out of his game.

The discussion and points made are valid. Jaime is no longer national team material. And if it comes at the expense of a younger player getting invaluable international minutes, then it comes at the detriment of the team.

And it hurts me to say that because I consider Jaime a close personal friend.

come on dude, this is the same talk we have been hearing year after year with players like Baldivieso, Etcheverry. We need to move on, it frightens me to think that Moreno is still in our player selection pools....... It proves that for the last couple of years no new fowards were produced, arent you worried about that??

You dont see Colombia calling back Asprilla, Argentina calling back Claudio Lopez, Chile calling back Salas/Zamorano, Peru calling back...... (i cant even remember because they have so many young stars right now).
