Are you in a band? You want to be? Know someone who is?

We are looking for a good Midnight Riders/NE Revolution/soccer themed song to put on our page. This is a great chance for you to get your name out there and (most likely) get your song sung in the Fort!

Rules:

We will be accepting entries until Sun 5/6/2007 (The home game vs The Fire)

You (or your band) must be a friend of The Midnight Riders to submit a song (you do not have to be an actual member of the Midnight Riders... although now is a good time to sign up!)

Voting will go until Sat 5/12/2007 (Away game vs The Galaxy)

Voting is open only to friends of The Midnight Riders.

Must be an original song. (Using the word original loosely here. If you re-write a good portion of lyrics/music from an existing song that's fine. It is our call though.)

We reserve the right to refuse a song entry into the contest. (Don't submit a song about another club. Also, your songs don't have to be G rated... but let's stay out of NWA/G.G. Allin territory ok?)

That's it! Go nuts. Have fun. It doesn't matter what genre it is. The winner will have their song featured on our page for the duration of the season (maybe longer).

GO REVS!
-------------------------------

So as you can see it's not limited to just Riders. If you got a friend in a band tell them about the contest. Free song for us, free publicity for them. Everyone wins. I'll be sure to keep you guys up to date and remind you about voting too.

Good idea, but why do they have to be friends with someone in the Midnight Riders?

And in the meantime, I think there's a myspace member named "rev19" that has the live version of "new england" if you need a song for the page.

Question: Is this an effort endorsed or otherwise agreed to by The Midnight Riders executive board?

Statement: There are a couple of Riders, if not more, who are currently in bands.

Answer: uh... yeah, little bit of confusion on that end.... working on it?

Statement: I figured as much. Spread the word. The more the merrier. This is something I just thought up and hasn't been approved by anyone... but if this whole thing works out in a big way and people were into it maybe make and sell (or give away) mix cds? I don't know all the ramifications and what not (i'm sure someone does)... but that could be neat.

Not really sure why this needs to be approved as it is only the chance to be featured on our page, only after approval by the Riders on myspace and the Board of Directors.

friend as in myspace friend.

Ahhh. That broadens the perspective a lil bit, eh.

It's also a great way to network the page.

You can find all kinds of talent in The Fort ;-). They actually have done something of a Revolution-song in "Lot 8." It's their one CD I own.

I'll be sure to put a bug in their ears.

Maybe they can re-do the lyrics for The Adicts; "Viva La Revolution!"

Here's the present version... anyone want to take a stab

"Into the Dungeon with evil men
The people have risen we're free again
Come out of the closet
Come out of the hole
Come out of the woodwork
Come into the fold
Rebels and fighters, a license to kill
Unite with the bandits down from the hills
Open your windows
Open your doors
Open your minds
To a freedom of thought

Viva la revolution X4

Raise our voices, raise our flag
Smash the symbols of the life we've had
Long live the people
Long live the scheme
Long live our hopes
Long live the dream
Dance in the streets at the carnival
Celebrate the victory now
Drink the wine from the rich man's cask
This revolution won't be the last

Viva la revolution X4"

I can play a mean kazoo, and I have 25 years of experience playing the plastic horn. I almost got a scholarship to Juilliard for the latter.

I bet most of the TFC fans play the skin kazoo- in fact I bet they play each other's kazoos the whole bus ride down. Maybe thier jaws will be too sore to sing?

Would it help to know that nearly every kid on my son's U10 soccer team is in the school band?

See if they can play When The Saints go marching in. It's pretty much a school band staple, then have one of the kids scream when the revs go marching in over it. That would be great.

I once suggested organizing a team trip to a game, with instruments.

My son looked aghast.
