Holding up Shinguards

Hey,

What do people recommend to hold up shinguards. I'm thinking of the Guard Stays from Nike. I'm wondering if I should get the velcro or non velcro, or just continue using tape?

the thing i do is i put on my sleeve that came with my shinguards and then on top of my socks i just put wide tape that covers the bottom part of my shinguard.

Tape is good, but it can cut off circulation. The sleeves are the best, they keep your shin guards in place and they keep your calves warm.

The sleeves that came with my adidas guards were garbage, but I bought a set of Kwik Goal sleeves for $5 at my local shop and they are fantastic. Beats any thing else i've used (tape, second pair of socks, stays) hands down.

I've used Velcro and tape. The only problem I have with tape is that if it is too tight it breaks or cuts off the circulation a little. Plus it can come undone midway through the game. I just went down to the local fabric store and got the two sided velcro. Worked fine for me.

I reckon sleeves are the way to go if they aren't loose.

go with the adidas straps, they're nice, and they come in a pack of four

I use clear hockey tape. It tends to hold better than regular athletic tape. It's plastic so it's somewhat waterproof too. My shinguards(F50 ones with interchangable shin plate) have two velcro straps so they don't really fall down much, it took me forever to find guards like that which were small and didn't have a stirrup. I tend to use tape more to keep my socks up than my guards in place.
