Thanks to plenty of assistance from Sport Billy, the petition looks like it is ready to go. I also made a signature sheet so you don't have to print so many petitions.

Now the question becomes distribution. There are several ways to let people access and print the PDF. Obviously you can e-mail me (you can do this through Big Soccer) and I can send it to you. I suppose we could start a website to host the file if need be.

Also, I need to figure out the best way to collect the petitions and signature sheets. Options include sending the sheets to me, STL United Soccer, or scanning sheets to a PDF and sending them electronically. I will make sure to contact STL United Soccer to find out their preference.

Also, once we sort out the distribution and delivery, I'll contact other sites like stlsoccer.net. They are usually very good about posting any local soccer related news and this would help us reach a larger amount of fans.

Hopefully, we can hit the ground running this weekend. There is a 170 soccer tournament hosted by Metro United in Collinsville and Edwardsville this weekend, and I know there are several coming up around the area. By the way, the Metro United fields just off Horseshoe Lake Road on McDonough Lake Road (located just off Horseshoe Lake Road on the intersection of Interstates 55/70 and 255) are essentially where the MLS stadium would be. I live in Hi-Pointe/Dogtown and it took me less than 20 minutes to get their the other day, and I'm not exactly Ricky Bobby when it comes to driving.

Okay, I'm just waiting to hear back about instructions regarding where to send the petitions and surveys. The moment that happens, I'll let Sport Billy know so he can open it up for real.

Missouri State Cup is here for the next couple weekends starting this Saturday at the SLYSA fields. I'm sure you could get a bunch of people there.

Fixed my posts. I've been doing telephone survey work and it has gone to my head.

We thought you guys could get busy on the signature collecting.
We are still working on where to send them.
Once we have this information, we will post it here.

Now get busy.

I see you specified Collinsville in the petition. Do we know for sure that is the only location being considered? Should we change it to "Greater St. Louis Metropolitan Area"? Just thinking that if the Collinsville site falls through the signatures we collect would be worthless and could not be used a support for another metro site. Just my two cents.

KeeperDad,
I understand your concern - I had it at first.
But, right now, it appears Collinsville is our best shot.
Collinsville, as I understand it, has concerns as to whether people will travel from St. Louis for the games.
This is why we included the zip code line so that City officials could see where people were coming from.

So the Petition is more than "We want a team."
It's "We want a team AND we are willing to travel to Collinsville to watch it."

So, should I not have people put their 92629 zip code on the petition?:D

Well said.

I also don't think it would be a total waste to have those signatures should another site come up. Officials in West County, for example, would likely be impressed by a large number of people stating their willingness to go to Collinsville for games.

By the way, what about putting other contact information on the petition? (Address, ph#, and e-mail)? I got a quick message about St Louis United Soccer possibly wanting to contact people in case there are other activities fans could participate in to land an MLS team.

I just worry that we won't get as many signatures if people had to put their information on it. I, myself, would have second thoughts about giving my address, phone #, and e-mail on a petition.

McGinty,

I assume they know about this forum. Why don't we suggest they have a representative post here. It would also be nice to have news "straight from the horses mouth" so to speak, if they would be willing to keep us informed.

Not a bad idea.

I doubt they are too concerned about keeping us informed, if they wanted to keep us informed they would probably use more traditional forms of media.

How are you guys getting signatures? Cause....I don't have any specific place where I see lots of soccer fans. I could get all the people I know to sign even if they would never go. Would that work? Remember....I live in Columbia, MO currently.

Lol, i'm kinda cheating. I'm in College at UMSL, so i just pass the petition around at my classes and tell people to sign it.
