At least for now.

Here's the deal. Please see the highlighted blue in the center of the picture below. I know it's a crappy version ... but it's the best I could do on short notice.

http://www.umlhockey.com/gillette.jpg

So when you're heading down the access road from Route 1 (just like we used to), don't take the first right anymore, take the right right in front of the guard shack, and an immediate right for the Riders parking spot.

For those of you that have your parking passes, you'll need them starting Saturday. For those that don't, you'll be getting a one-game reprieve from the parking guys.

Now the issue (and this is going to suck all year long, and maybe next as well). For any doubleheader type games (not including this weekend), they will most likely be charging non-season ticket holders for parking. So if you're not a season ticket holder, you'll have to pay to get into our lot on those game days. With the larger expected crowds on those game days, you'll have to make sure to get there earlier (Gold Cup, Ireland friendly, etc).

Sorry guys, but I just got off the phone with Craig, and this is the only info I currently have. I wish I could have done better. :(

I'm sorry, but that's just bullshit. Not your fault Monty, I know that, but it's still bullshit.

Sorry guys ... not much I can argue on this point. :(

Well I can offer my parking pass up when I have a ride to a game...I am sure others carpool and can do the same?

Why is that bullshit? I'm not sure why this would bother you. What's wrong with giving extra perks to season ticket holders?

Since I'm a STH, I won't address paying for parking (After paying $15 for parking at an LA open cup game last year, I have been extra thankful for our free parking)

I have been running through some thoughts on our new lot

Pros:
*Sunshine. If we were in the front rows of the East lot, right up against the stadium, we would be in the shade for all of our 5-7 pm games. I know the shade might be nice in July, but I'm looking forward to the sun most days!

*We're really far away, so we can curse loudly, sing, and generally do whatever we want. We should have about a 5 minute warning before any cop arrives from the main parking areas, as it's a long walk.

*I hear there is a jacuzzi

Cons:
*Long walk, no parking "advantage" to being a Rider (except being that we can park together)

*Will we be less "visible"? I always felt like our location was to our advantage, in terms of getting people interested in Revs/Riders. I'd be curious if anyone got involved with Riders due to seeing us in our lot and wanting to get involved?

*No more visits from Craig. He better invest in a Golf Cart. Actually not a good idea, since we would no doubt "borrow" it for some joyriding.

*Lot falls in an "alcohol free zone" ;)

Other thoughts:
I think, but am not sure, that the East lot we are in was considered a type of "premium" parking last year for people who had four or more season tickets in Cat 1, is that correct? I recall regulars who always parked right next to the stadium in that lot (played Bocce ball on the lawn/divider). Anyway, I have a feeling this was also part of our problem in getting located in our new spot. Maybe they trying not to hand the "premium" spaces to a bunch smelly Riders and in turn offend the people who used to park there? However, they still wouldn't be reserving those spaces, so not sure if I have a valid point here. I think we could all get along, comparing our 401(k) investment options and such.

Yup yup.

Me, sean, and our friend John will most likely all be coming in together from Boston and we all have parking passes.

That some sort of sick joke?

Not cool.

It wasn't a perk for season ticket-holders last year (although it was originally sold as such), so I'm curious as to the change for this year? Yes, it's a little something more for the people who pay for season tickets, but considering the matches this rule's being implimented for, the perception (if not the intent) is of the club working to fleece the casual fans who don't come to Foxboro on a regular basis. These could be people who come to the Galaxy match just to see Beckham, as well as those coming to see the Gold Cup.

It also puts the Riders in an awkward position with respect to our parking location and the relative benefit of that. Granted, we're pretty much granted our space at the pleasure of the Revolution, but it's still bullshit that members of our group who might not be season ticket holders, won't be able to park with the group because the Revolution arbitrarily change the rules for a few select games.

Just my 2 cents, but I'm not happy.

I see it as a perk for season ticket holders, not "fleecing the casual fan". People who commit to going to every game SHOULD get more benefits than someone that only shows up to see David Beckham.

And maybe I misunderstood, but I thought Riders could still park in the area, they will just have to pay for it if they are not season ticket holders.

As far as I know, this is correct.

THIS SUCKS !! For those of us like me who can't walk very far they have effectively ended my being able to park with the Riders. I would like to know why the Riders have been penalized with virtual off site parking. If I'm not parked with you all Saturday that's the reason.

First off - Thanks to Monty and The Midnight Riders Organization for taking the time and effort to work w/ the Revs FO and secure a reserved parking location. I imagine it was not easy.

I'm definitely disappointed we aren't closer to the entrance. Although the new location is not as superior as the past location it's still a place to call home. I'm also sure it will not be permanent and could change season to season which might be a good way to spread the Rider love and increase #s. With the ever increasing membership and power the Riders will still dominate Gillette Stadium and the parking lot no matter where they're located.

The free parking perk to all fans who come was due to come to an end at some point. I don't think it helped raise attendance as they'd hoped. A possible parking pass thread could be set up to assist Riders who need a parking pass or just rename/add to the carpool thread.

I'm sure Craig w/ still come visit, but it's time to come up w/ cheer that will begin when he is sighted 2 blocks away and continues until his arrival and then begins again when he departs and heads back to the stadium.... any ideas?

I love this idea, especially if it is a cheer that emphasizes how far he has to come to see us, kind of tongue in cheek. Since we already sing "There's only only one Craig Tornberg", maybe we adapt that during his walk over:

There's only one mile to go, one mile to go

Reducing the distance as he gets closer?

Ok, I like the idea, someone else come up with the song or something that makes sense.

Or we could use the WWII song. "Over there"

Over There, Over There
Send the word, send the word, Over There
That Craig is coming, That Craig coming,
The drums rum tumming everywhere
So prepare, Say a Prayer
Send the word, send the word to beware
We'll be over, we're coming over.
And we won't be back till it's over over there!

or something like that

I think its pretty stupid that people would complain about the Revs charging for parking on certain games to non CC members. Why shouldnt they charge? honestly.
Its their lots and just be thankful they dont charge you for every game, you know like they did from 1996-2005, and most every other major league sports franchise does. If you really have a problem with it or think its not worth it, dont come to the game.
Am I wrong here? Does the Stadium not have every right to charge in this situation?
Just my opinon.

People will always complain, and of course should! I think it's nice for STH to get the bonus of free parking, and it's only for a handful of games this year (2-3 doubleheaders). You are right, I've paid everywhere else (LA, C-bus, DC, Dallas, NY). When the Revs charged for parking, I always parked offsite to save money.

Maybe this will encourage people to carpool, which can't be a bad thing either.

they do have the right...and I think it is completely normal that Season Ticket Holders get something more than those who do not have season tickets...
