The 12 Goals of Hercules

OK, maybe its that Greek/Roman Mathology class I took in college, but on my flight home today, the fact that we now have a player called Hercules and there are 12 other teams in MLS clicked together in my mind into The 12 goals (labors) of Hercules. I wonder if Hercules can achieve all 12 in one MLS season?

For reference, the 12 Labors of Hercules:

1. Slay the Nemean Lion and bring back its fur. Yellow fur, Columbus?

2. Slay the Lernaean Hydra.

3. Capture the Ceryneian Hind.

4. Capture the Erymanthian Boar.

5. Clean the Augean stables in a single day. - Obviously scoring against FSL, because when you think of manure, you think of FSL...

6. Slay the Stymphalian Birds. - Given the avian nature of this one, I say this is DC - CHECK

7. Capture the Cretan Bull. - Red Bulls

8. Steal the Mares of Diomedes.

9. Obtain the Girdle of Hippolyte. - Girdle of PrimaDonnavan?

10. Obtain the Cows of Geryon. - FC Dallas

11. Steal the Apples of the Hesperides.

12. Capture Cerberus, the guardian dog of Hades and bring him back.

Not sure how to fit the other teams in. OK, enough mythology geeking for one night...

A hind is like a reindeer? Is that like a goat at all? That could be Chivas. And do any of these mythical beasts have wings? Because then that would be New York, since Red Bull gives you wings.

Good call. So that makes FC Dallas the Cretan Bull.

Houston can be Cerberus, since its damn hot in Houston (hell) and they are the defending champions.

FCD could also = mares of Diomedes given the old Burn logo. That's three possible for Dallas.
