I realise this board's mostly used by SPL fans, and the SFL2 isn't of great interest, but this was a fantastic result for us and has almost sealed promotion. We need two points from the last three games to go up to SFL1, and that's assuming that our nearest challengers, Stirling Albion, win all their games. (If we get two points and Stirling win all three, we'll be level on points, but partially thanks to that result against an all-at-sea Forfar yesterday we're 47 goals to the good, to Stirling's 32. It seems highly unlikely that they can overcome the difference.) We could clinch it with a win at Stark's Park this weekend. Of course, we've already won a league game there this season, coming from 1-0 down to win 3-1, the final goal being one of my Morton goals of the season.
In SFL1, Gretna are still "living the dream" but went down 2-0 at home to challengers St. Johnstone, so the title race isn't quite over yet. Gretna are still six points ahead with three games to go, and have a goal difference 11 better than that of the Saintees, so, again, one win should do it for them.
In the Third Division, four teams could win the title, but it is in essence a two horse race: Berwick are 2 points ahead of Arbroath. QP and East Fife, all but guaranteed a playoff spot, are in with a chance, but EF's win over the former on Saturday put paid to the Glasgow side's chances of the title in all but mathematical possibility. Berwick have run hot and cold but are top on merit; that said, a 0-0 draw with lowly Elgin is going to make for a nervy run-in, while Arbroath demolished pre-season favourites (well, my pre-season favourites) Stenhousemuir 4-1 to consign the Stenny boys to almost certain bottom half ignominy, whilst keeping their own title race alive. Berwick vs Arbroath on April 21st is surely going to be match of the day in Scotland, as it could potentially be a championship decider.
Just a reminder that in SFL1, the top team goes to the SPL; in SFL2 the top team goes to SFL1 and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th places teams play off with the 9th in SFL1 to see who takes that spot. In SFL3, it works much the same as SFL2, only with no relegation from SFL3 itself. While the SPL, SFL1 and SFL2 are fairly clear-cut (although St. Johnstone might have something to say about that), it's neck-and-neck in the 3rd.
