Lopez, is an Under-21 Paraguayan striker who will be expected to fill the shoes of Yakubu Aiyegbeni, the Maccabi Haifa striker who was sold to Portsmouth of England after Haifa's Champions League run.

Crew man :)
This is not the first time a South American has played in Israel. I think you can find well over 6 players in the Israel Liga that are from S. America.
Moreover, there is turmoil in much of the countries, most notably, Argentina.
I have heard rumours of players not getting paid and players that are mistreated and are starving to death. Many of them are jewish too!!! So if you have a Jewish Prodigy player, who has potential for the Argentinan NT, and who can make around 110,000 US....
he can do the same in israel, while at the same time, be able to play in Israeli NT!!!!!!!
Guirellima Israelivich played for Santa Fe i think and he was good, and now he plays for Maccabi Haifa, he is like 22 i think!

Sorry about that Kappa, my bad.
BTW, has there ever been an American (Jewish) player in the Israeli leagues?
Oh, and if I get over there in the fall, I already have permission from Mrs. Toon to go to a match.

Thats okay :) no hard feeling my friend....
Right now, im not sure. In Basketball, there is a TON of Americans playing. One jewish though, that goes by the name of Tamir Goodman.....
other than that......In Soccer, i can't recall anyone who played in israel now that i from the states and is jewish, but...
As far as i can remember, when the Leauge started, there was tons of American Jews who played in israel. They immigrated here, when the country was formed and played in the leauges.
Up until 1970's (late) there is credible amount of americans who played in israel, and maybe they lived in israel since they were 3, but most were born in the states, primarily the east coast.

Yes! Hasan Amani Dove did play in Israel, although he isn't a jewish person.
Hasan is an Iranian....and American...I think he is a Bahai' or Chrisitan faith and he played in Zafrinim Holon in the late 90's.
He is a MLS start and was a fast and patient player. He did alot of good stuff for the team, and it was kinda odd, cause he is Iranian, and Iran is not the best of friends with israel
Other than that, back to crews question...
To switch the table.....what about israelis in the MLS?
Not heard much and in my opinon, there is no difference between israelis playing in israel and the states.
I think Israelis will have the upper hand and will be very noticeable. Many of our Veterans will fit places like the Miami Fussions and New York/New Jersey team (forgot the name).
Plus don't forget the strong Jewish/Israeli backing this player might get...
I want to get more into the MLS!

Hamisi plays for Virginia Beach (US's 2nd div. currently) He is american, not by a longshot of any south-american nationality.
Goldberg is jewish, and chilean and plays his trade in Israel.

That is a misconception. Maccabi Tel-Aviv's Rodrigo Goldberg is not Jewish. His family is indeed from Poland going back but they were Christians.
