I'm guessing Salazar gets Houston as the other three fulltime referees got opening day assignments.

All I know is it is smaller than in previous years with many known referees no longer on it. I have been told guys who never did a ton of games (like St. Silva) will not be doing any this year. I think they are trying to concentrate more games to fewer guys...this would be expected since they have to keep the 4 employees busy.

Other than that, I heard there were a couple of surprising names not on it...not sure who, but they were people that generally get good reviews on this site.

Salazar is in Hondorus for the 17's

I see that there are a few FIFA AR's that did not work this weekend either. Interesting, Who picks who does what games??

Paul Tamberino is the official assignor for MLS, Reserves, and USL1. However, many of these games are decided upon by more than just him and based on a variety of factors...including availability which we do not always know about when discussing assignments.

Are you suggesting that some Referee's will ever be unavailable to do a game... as if they had a life or something, sheesh! :p
