Bastids...!

Smart business to pull the ads. and appologise. They would have lost a lot of followers and other sponsors would have been pressured to pull out.

As for the Rag itself. When I visit, I have to sit on my cousin when he sees anybody "At all" reading it.

Are you still able to get FHM in Liverpool after that stupid thing they did last year?

Yeah, you can still get the S*n here too. It's just that not many people buy it.

Houllier on the Tournament:

Dear Liverpool supporter,

Overall we have to say we were disappointed with the Amsterdam Tournament and we are sorry for the fans that we weren't able to give them more goals to celebrate.

I thought we did well in the first game against Ajax but we have to admit we didn't perform against Galatasaray. I thought there might be a dip at some point in our pre-season preparations and the boys definitely looked a bit drained and tired yesterday.

The Ajax game was a good advert for football as it was a very entertaining and exciting game. Both teams wanted to score and it could have gone one way or another.

I enjoyed watching the game and was pleased with our passing and the way in which we created chances. The game could have ended 4-4. Some 0-0 games are boring but this one was a great advert for the game.

I don't think we played particularly well against Galatasaray, though. We weren't quick enough going forward. We made an error that cost us a goal and they scored from their first chance of the match.

We had chances as well but we didn't play to our usual level. We still have things to work on and we still have a couple of weeks before the season starts and I have no doubts we will be ready for that Chelsea game.

The sendings-off at the end were very disappointing. At the start of it Hakan Unsal grabbed Steven and then the tackle that came next was very bad. Stevie reacted to that. In football it's never the provocation that's punished, it's the retaliation.

Then there were about six or seven Turkish players all around him, but I don't know what happened between him and the referee later on. Maybe as one of our leaders he was frustrated with Mellor being sent off and that got to him.

But he didn't use any foul language or insult the referee. I asked the referee immediately if that was the case and he said no.

I didn't see what happened with Mellor. The linesman was in the way but it looked harsh. I'm pleased we can draw the line and there are no consequences.

When you lose your cool you cannot win games as we have found out in the past but it is a good reminder to us and it will help us when the next campaign starts.

Regards,

Gerard Houllier
Liverpool Manager

Rapaic given a trial. (http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/031013/21/eazbn.html)

I have to say, I don't get this. He's failed trials at Celtic and Bolton (which the article kind of skirts around) and he plays in a position for which we already have about 2000 players. Even on the assumption that he is cheap and useful, what's the point?

Wasn't aware of that. I thought he was Croatia's best player in the World Cup, though.

It's all pointless to me. I can't stand the way that GH always has to do things on the cheap side.

Sure, it's good management, but a club this big (Or.......was big :( ) should be splashing out a few quid now and again on some decent plaeyrs.

Rapaic is 30+, he's un heard of, been denied by other prem clubs (ones that GH himself would consider to be below us in the ranks) and MOST OF ALL, he's unsigned for chr1st sakes.

Plus, surely he's not matchfit. We need someone who can take to spot for a few matches in a row, if OWEN or/and BAROS are out. I know Rivaldo is also 30 odd, he's much more proven and fitter than this Rapaic lad.

Always cheap? Heskey and Diouf spring to mind here.

Trialist shown the exit
By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo

LIVERPOOL have decided not to go ahead with the signing of Croatian trialist Milan Rapaic.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder spent two weeks on Merseyside, training with the Reds for the last time yesterday.

But after talks with the player's representative, Gerard Houllier decided not to offer the international a contract.

Houllier's injury situation has improved with the return to training of Dietmar Hamann.

Welcome, Ice Blue. And yes, that is a mistake.
I believe that we released Rapaic after a two-week trial.

I like Pongolle. He looks a promising young player. I wouldn't play him vs. ManU if I was Gerard Houllier. We need our best players in that game.

My brother wants to see Liverpool. He will be there in
Feb. 2004. Do you know where he can get a schedule?

We are from California (Earthquake country) and we can-
not find the schedule.

Here you go . . . .

From: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/match/season/

feb, 07 Bolton Wanderers Barclaycard Premiership (A) 15:00 -

feb, 11 Manchester City Barclaycard Premiership (H) 20:00 -

feb, 14 To be announced FA Cup 5th Round (A) 15:00 -

feb, 21 Portsmouth Barclaycard Premiership (H) 15:00 -

feb, 28 Leeds United Barclaycard Premiership (A) 15:00 -

So you'll be looking for tickets to the Feb 11th and/or Feb 21st matches, which will be at Anfield.

The other three are all away matches, which I am going to guess will be much harder tickets to come by.

Whoo Hoo!! My name is Paul and I'm the one that got the present for Christmas to see Liverpool at Anfield, one of my lifelong dreams! Anyone knows what seat is the best in the house? I live in California so I guess I may have to get it on the internet. Thanks!!
