This thread is for former River players currently playing abroad(Europe Mexico, etc...). For example, Crespo scored in Inter's win against Parma yesterday and D' Alessandro scored in Zaragoza'a match against Getafe. Although I hate to include this one, but "Lucho" Gonzalez:o scored an "own goal" in Porto's match aganst Benefica. We won't be too hard on him for that. He's been playing well for Porto.

Hopefully Saviola finds himself a better club.. Villarreal, Zaragoza, Juventus, among others are after him. He deserves to be in a place in which he'd get his well deserved spot. In my opinion, he's still one of the best players in his position (in the world). He had a great World Cup, a good career, scored everytime he was given a chance to play, and is still only 26.. To give you an example, Rodrigo Palacio is 25. Basically the same age, and, even though Palacio is very good, I think Saviola is a much better player.I'd like him to either go to Juventus, to switch leagues, or to go to Zaragoza and share their offense with Aimar, D'Alessandro and Diego Milito.
D'Alessandro is amazing. I don't give a ******** how bad you guys think he played in the Bundesliga, this guy is the best. He was amazing in River, amzaing, like nothing I've ever seen. We were coming from an era in which great players such as Aimar, Ortega, and Gallardo had played, but I still think they never matched his level. He was incredible, great passes, 99.95% accuracy on his shots, beautiful-enjoyable jukes.. Not to mention how well he combined with Cavenaghi: Just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I also think, despite not playing as well as with La Banda, he did a good job with the Seleccion. When he went to Germany, he started off good but his level dropped. But I don't blame him, it just wasn't the league for him. After that, he was about to return to River (I almost died), but he went to Portsmouth (England) because his wife was pregnant and she couldn't take long flights. He did great in a pretty bad team, something which players like Mascherano and Tevez weren't able to do. His coach fell in love with him and was dieing for him to stay, but he moved to Zaragoza on loan (Wolfsburg still owns him). I haven't seen much of him, barely anything to tell you the truth, but I heard he isn't doing bad.. I hope he returns to River as soon as possible, though.. Great player. (Sorry for getting all emotional.. it's just that he's the greatest).
Lucho Gonzalez is another very good player, and he (along with ex-Racing, Lisandro Lopez) have been fantastic this semester. I would love to see him on the NT again.
Crespo: great player. He was Argentina's best foward at the 2006 WC, and is still on fire despite his age. He had said he would return in June 2007 to River, but I read the other day that his loan to Inter lasts 2 years (he is just barely about to finish his first year). Is he going to terminate the loan? Because I don't see how this would happen. :( Still, he said it, so if he doesn't come back, he knows he'll get a beating. :D
Aguante River.

By the way, does anyone know how Marcelo Gallardo and Fernando Cavenaghi are doing in France? I can't expect too much from El Muneco, because he hadn't been doing good for a while in River, but how about Cavegol.. I know he had scored a goal in one match, how about the other games.
Updates are welcomed. :)

I heard that Gallardo was doing fairly well considering his age, but PSG weren't in a great spot in the league to begin with. They did however improve after he got there.
Cavenaghi on the other hand remains in his semi-obscurity and not even Olé talks about him, but he can't be playing much, because he wasn't mentioned in the article that talked about Bordeaux winning the League Cup.

Javier "El Jefecito" Mascherano started in Liverpool's 3-0 drubbing of PSV Eindhoven today. Looks like his loan to Liverpool has paid off and he's getting some playing time. Way to go "Jefecito"!!

Yeah, but it was a mistake by him that allowed Drogda to score.
However, El Ratoncito is still the greatest.

Cavegol hasn't gotten much of a chance so far, has appeared in only 4 games, all out of them from the bench, for a total of 84 minutes and scored 1 gol. He just needs more chances.

Here's another one of our former players that's currently playing abroad. "Micho" Demichelis scored in Bayern Munich's away victory against Hannover today. Way to go Micho!!! Would've loved to see you in River's back four against Caracas on Thursday.

Here's one of our former players who has adapted quite well to the Russian League. Alejandro "Chori" Dominguez scored today in Zenit St. Peteresburg's win against Dynamo Moscow. In case some don't know, "Chori" was signed for around 7 million Euros before the start of the 2007 Russian League. He used to play for Rubin Kazan where he scored 21 goals in 63 appearances.;)

Juan Pablo Sorin started in Hamburg's 1-0 defeat of Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday. Maybe this will be some good luck for River on Sunday as a former "gallina" defeats a former "bostero" in Insua.:p

Hernan Crespo and Esteban Cambiasso started today in Inter Milan's 2-2 draw against Palermo. Then, Julio "El Jardinero" came on in the 2nd half and scored in the 67th minute to start the comeback. Imagine three Riverplatenses playing on the same club!!!

Gotta add another one to the growing list. Man, I may need some help with this. Anyone else, feel free with additions.
Daniel "Hachita" Luduena started and scored twice for Santos Laguna in the Mexican League. Looks like once he moved from River to Mexico he began playing better. He played quite well for UAG Tecos, then was transferred to Santos this year and has kept his form. Way to go Hachita!!!

Here are a couple of River favorites. Pablo Aimar and Andres D' Alessandro both started for Real Zaragoza in there loss to Gimnastic de Tarragona on 04/15/07. How in the hell do they defeat Barcelona last weekend, then lose to a club with a couple of former bosteros(Calvo & Matellan)??
