My son drives me nuts with his shoes. He plays so much soccer that he wears out 2 pair a size but it is difficult to buy him a pair he likes. They either hurt his feet, have no traction or (gasp!) look "wierd". He generally wears Addidas or Nike but he is hit or miss as to which of their many styles he likes. Just bought him some JOMA NUMERO 10 CLEAT Ying-Yang and he LOVES them. Wore them right out of the box for a tournament this past weekend and after 5 games he wants another pair when he wears these out.
His mom thought they looked dorky so it just proves that we adults have no sense as to what today's youth will like in style....

He will, this is his second size five boot. The last one's tongue fell off when he started outdoor soccer this spring. Just to show you, they were a pair of cheap plain black Easton's and he really liked them. However, the fall season did them in and they were no longer available at the local sports store. We went to a catalog store in our town when they closed out their soccer and football line and picked up new addidas and nike shoes for him to grow into. We got $50 to $90 shoes for $5 each!! Alas, they're all a size too big so we needed another pair to get us through the spring.

Your sons foot will still grow, so its not really applicable to him, but if you really find a boot that you like you should try and get as many pairs as possible.
I love the Esito II but am having a completely hard time finding them in a UK7,5.

My feet kept on growing about two years back, so I bought like three pairs of boots that would allow space to grow into...and then my feet stopped growing! I'm a UK8 or more in my casual shoes, but I really cram my feet into boots.:p

We're about the same size :p I always look for soft leather boots now if I get casual boots so they mold to my feet :D I got these Puma casual shoes they are soooo comfy!!!

Actually, a pediatrician in Germany told me the exact opposite. Their view over there is that it is more important to buy quality shoes for kid's feet since they are growing. Any damage done to a growing foot would be more permanent than that to a fully developed foot. I don't know but I do try to get shoes which appear to be well made and have good arch support.
Bad news guys, in my 30's my foot went from a size 9.5 to about a 10.5. I don't know if it was from growing or swelling but it happened.

By buying and buying shoes for him, you have spoiled your child. Now he's just used to getting new shoes frequently. Tell him to keep the shoes until the studs are just plain gone.

The hostages were freed today, so can we stop hijacking this thread & get back to a Joma-relevant discussion please?
