Barraza began playing soccer through their school and joined sport club crown when he was eight years old and their along with his made his debut in professional soccer. He began playing with ball of rag and it's poverty like interlocutor.

During theses hard period he discovered three secrets. One, he was a lefty; two that in the monologue with the round one would give him away to escape poverty and three, that in life, who does not give everything it, does not get anything "Cariota" always gave everything.

During his 15 years of soccer, he played barefooted due to his economic situation, when he could afford football boots he had to train to get accustomed to them. after playing for Sport club Corona, C. D. Dragon and finally C.D.

Aguila where he earned them several titles, idolised by the public through his technical brillance and pure skill.

Barraza was recognised for his brillance clubs from Brazil (in particular Santos) and Mexico were desperate to sign him up.
finally retiring in 1970.

From what my grandfather and my dad tell me, this guy was amazing. He used to dribble the whole team then score. He had such a powerful shot, he literally ripped the nets, and even sent a keeper to the hospital. Second only to Magico Gonzalez. Santos from Brazil wanted to sign him, thats when Brazil didn't take foreigners. This guy and magico are two players El Salvador currently needs!!!!!!!

This guy was a legend. To bad there isn't any videos.
I would really love to see some footage of this guy. LONG LIVE CARIOTA BARRAZA.

The reason why, everyone is always saying ES, is bad now...even more than anyother country. Is simply because we had so much quality before.... we have had so much talent, and now it's not the case. But hey our players will start mejorando, and so will the Selecta.

Is he alive?

unfortanly not dude, kind of sad story when he died. he took ES to Mexico 70, but he couldnt play the world cup due to an injury... we lost our best player and we got our ass kicked super bad.

Aguilas stadium has his name though, he is remembered as the "catedratico de la zurda" and people loves that guy in San Miguel, where I was borned.

He died out of a heart a attack I think.

In San Miguel they have too many good stories about this guy. Ill try to get a link about his life and his great left foot.

THis is def something every young player needs to hear. He is an icon of Salvatrucho futbol. Like i said it before, many people think he was the best ever, even above Magicos brilliant level.

Barraza was my uncles Coach in CD Dragon. He won everything in Salvadoran soccer, as player and as a coach.

There is no videos bc there was not tv in El Salvador in those days. If there was any evidence, they were prob burned when Canal 4 the biggest tv corp in El Salvador got on fire.

He killed a goldkeeper, sent a defender to the hospital and broke the nets more than once. His shot was too powerful and his left foot technique is compared with many Salvadorans with Maradonas.

This is a tribute to Cariota Barraza "El Catedratico" de la zurda.

Ill bring pictures of him when I get a chance. Santos of Pele wanted him. He scored the best goal in Salvadoran futbol history.

i dont know, i will have to do a research, maybe some of you that are interested can find out more too.

all i got are my uncles and aguila fans stories.

2 good ones.

1. He said Aguila was the best team in the world, he was happy in Aguila and he did no wanted to go to Brazil, Mexico or Europe... kind like Pele in Brazil.

2. When asked if he though young Magico Gonzalez was going to be better than him. He said "no long haired joke is better than me."

Fans loved him, but bc of educaction or money... you have to remember that the had a tough life as a kid, having to work since he was very young to help his family. He was mad at the world, really really tough guy. He hated the press and the newspapers.

This arcticle is out dated it came out in 2001, because in 2002 Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe we won gold once again defeating mexico.
