In addition to the CCC game against Pachuca, there's a little something called Opening Day going on next week as well.
Please use this thread for pre-game articles and discussion of players, tactics, field conditions, officiating, crowds, etc.

The Beckhamless LA Galaxy come to Houston on Sunday, April 8 at 6:00 pm CT for our first game of the 2007 MLS season.

KBME 790, the Sports Animal, is scheduled (http://houston.mlsnet.com/news/team_news.jsp?ymd=20070314&content_id=85627&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&team=t200) to carry this game in English. The station streams online here (www.790kbme.com).

No Trolling. No Flaming.
This is not a rivalries thread or forum. If you want to go that route, then post in the MLS Fans Rivalries (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=77) forum -- don’t bring it here. Trolling posts will be binned and trolls will get carded. If you see trolling posts - don’t reply to them. Instead, just report the post and we’ll get rid of it and deal with the troll appropriately.

I was just at MLSnet.com and they've finally removed the standings from last year and have posted the slate of matches for week 1 & a countdown clock (with only 10 odd days to go)! Included is the new logo for the Rapids and the TFC logo - just a reminder of the constant growth track that MLS is on.
Man...these MLS off seasons are sooooooooo long. I was pleasantly surprised to see how close we are to kicking off season XII. I am psyched to get back to a full DVR of MLS matches every weekend - including a new weekly Thursday night game (in HD no less).

Yeah I'm jazzed about being able to watch other games on ESPN instead of almost every game playing at the same time like last season.

Of course I'll be there with the crew and a lot of extras.
Also, this seems like as good a place as any to announce this. i noticed we're playing in L.A. on 9/16 and that's my birthday. I pulled a few strings and got some airline tickets and it looks like I'm going to be able to make the game in L.A. and see the Dynamo smack around David Beckham on his home turf. Of course the orange helmet will be worn with pride (and for protection).

Well now, in case I forget to say Happy B-day before then, here you go. Just happens to be mine as well. Enjoy that trip.

Hey, man, that's my birthday too. What's the deal with everybody born on that day? People should spring for tickets for us for our birthdays.
It's also Mexican Independence Day, a good day for a Spanish teacher to be born, huh?

And don't forget in HD if they're broadcasting it in HD.

Well, unlike some of you, I don't have to wait that long for my birthday. I shall be celebrating it at this first game.
:D
And I'm vote #13 for "Dynamo wins". I'll take that as a good sign!

FYI, if you want to talk smack about Landycakes and Blowchunks, here's a thread started by a very thoughtful person for exactly that reason...
Why I hate Topper....err...LAG vs Houston (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=503963)

Now back to our regularly scheduled program....

Yes to all three.

With Adrian Seroiux gone, Rico will have to step up and play an even more vital role than last year's great performance.
I used to criticize him for too many touches before releasing the ball:o (that didn't come out right).
He can hold and distribute with the best. Of course, He's a Dynamo..

Posted this in the other thread about the LA game, that turned into an attendance thread....figured it makes more sense to be in this thread:
It's hard to think about the MLS Opener against the Galaxy, when the CCC match is 3 days before. (And for me to say that, with how much us ex-Quakes fans hated the Galaxy, you know how much I'm looking forward to the Pachuca match)
For the MLS Opener, you'd have to give a tremendous advantage to Houston. LA has had a lot of turnover in players, they have some injuries that they are still dealing with, and Houston will have played 4 meaningful matches (CCC) going into the opener. The only issue will be how fresh Houston will be, having played 3 days earlier, and whether they will have the focus on the LA match. Also, Clark will still be out, so that weakens the defense a bit.
Whether Houston wins the CCC semis or loses, it seems like it could be hard for the guys to change focus in 3 days and really get up for the match with LA. That could be the biggest challenge for the Dynamo this year. And if they win the CCC semis, then they'll have a dual focus for another month. That's a good problem to have, it's just something that most of the team has not had to deal with before.
The San Jose Earthquakes did make it to the second round in 2002, and played Pachuca during April while the MLS season was going on. So some of the guys do have that experience (of course, the matches with Pachuca didn't go so well that time around). For what it's worth, during the month of April in 2002, the Earthquakes went 2-2 (they were 13-11-3 over the year). Barrett, Robinson, and DeRosario were on that team.

April 8th is my b-day as well. A win to celebrate would be great.

You might want to throw some birthday luck at DC then. They need all the help they can get.

I just realized that 8APR is Easter Sunday. What kind of a brainiac schedules a game on Easter Sunday? Wonder what that'll do to attendance.
Anywho, I'll be there stuffed with jelly beans.

telefutura televising home matches is a very good chance for dynamo to expose their futbol to the hispanic community(MLS always wanted support from the latinos and has not done enough to deserve it), which does not include me 'cause i'm planning to go to most local games and i really hate the fact that no local channel will be televising all the away matches, i don't have cable. so i'm just gonna have to find me a bar where to watch the interesting games.
