Predictions?
I think it will be Enke for now but....Adler later.

I don't know, a lot depends on who's gonna be the new Bayern goalie.
Enke is good but I wish he would've moved to a bigger club. I can't imagine Hannover's gk to be Germany's No.1.
Weidenfeller and Wiese should be in there instead of Hildebrand.

Unfortunately. Yea you are right, probably should have them there too, but too late to edit the poll now (one of these things that irks me as a moderator, maybe I should bring that up ;) )

What makes people think Enke will overtake Hildebrand?
After Jens is done after the Euros it'll go straight to Timo and I doubt they'll drop him unless he is an absolute disaster.

Because Hildebrand only keeps getting called because of the WC bonus (like Hanke)? My guess is he will dropped by the start of the new season. Will be interesting to see where he ends up, if it's some foreign midtable club his nt career is over.

Wiese or Adler

Keep in mind, Hildebrand also has training experience with the NT on his side, I'd say thats something thats pretty important when it comes to the biggest stage of the game.
So no matter how he stacks up against other keepers, he won't be dropped that easily.

Köpcke was only playing at Köln when he was goalkeeper. Enke playing at Hanover should not be an obstacle (unless we get relegated, of course)

it's not really an issue because germany have got so many good goalkeers and have always been strong there over the years. when did germany last have a weak goalie?

You mean Frankfurt or Nuremberg, I guess. Illgner was playing at Cologne.
But I agree that it doesn't matter for which club he plays. If it is a mid- or low-table team, he get's at least enough shots on his goal every game to keep up his form. ;)
By the way, the question shouldn't be who will become our next No 1, but who deserves to. We've got a lot of good keepers to choose from, but Enke is clearly the best, probably followed by Weidenfeller. No way someone like Rensing should get the spot, he doesn't even play at his club because Kahn wants to end his career at the age of 45 or something.

Don't forget one of the best Goalkeeper in the world Tim Wieser from Werder Bremen. He continues Germany's long tradition of good #1's.

Hard to say. All keepers are really strong...however, Neuer & Adler have the advantage to be very young.
Since Robert Enke comes from the youth teams of BMG, I voted for him. :-)

Just one word to him :OVERRATED!
Did you mean in the near future? IMO Manuel Neuer is our biggest talent, he yet has everything what a real class GK needs and is still so young. My hottest prospect for 2010 :)

A lot of things change in 2 years, one horrible season then you're out. So I can't really say who right now.
As for Hildebrand he's sometimes too clumsy with his footwork.

You can say the same about Adler...

Gotta say that Adler impressed me more than Neuer because so far he played nearly flawless which is quite an impressive achievement for such a young goalie!

After Lehmann, I definitely see Hildebrand taking over. Germany has a tradition in letting goalkeepers take over after waiting so long. That was the case with Kahn and Lehmann and until Hildebrand will have an utterly disastrous spell of form he won't be dropped. However the most talented goalkeeper is Adler. I rate this kid very highly.
