Just got back from the show. The guys sounded good.

I guess it's been a while since i've been to a PJ show but when did the Tour Tshirts get so MFing expensive?

The band didn't sound as loud as where I was sitting compared to their last stop here in May 2006. Probably because Verizon Center is big and the sound gets lost when you are high up in the upper level.

Summer vacation, anyone?

The legendary Green River will be reuniting and performing at SP20, the Sub Pop Records 20th anniversary festival, at Marymoor Park on Sunday, July 13th!

Formed in 1984 and broken up by the end of 1987, members of Green River included Mark Arm, Jeff Ament, Steve Turner, Stone Gossard, Bruce Fairweather, and Alex Vincent - all six of whom will be performing together at SP20. The festival takes place Saturday July 12th and Sunday July 13th and will also feature performances by Flight of the Conchords, Mudhoney, Wolf Parade, Iron & Wine, The Vaselines, David Cross and a whole lot more. You should totally come. Single-day tickets and 2-day passes are available at TicketMaster. And, there's a whole lot more info about SP20 here.

My brother is going to this. I envy him a ridiculous amount because of it.

I don't care much for Pearl Jam, and Mother Love Bone sucked ass, but Green River were an essential part of my youth. They broke up before I was old enough to attend concerts, so I never got to see them.

It pleases me to see that both Bruce Fairweather and Steve Turner will play (I doubt they'll share the stage except during "Swallow My Pride"), as the band changed quite a bit when Fairweather replaced Turner. It's cool that both iterations will be represented.

If you aren't familiar with Green River, someone made "videos" (erm) for "This Town" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD6ZQ6a_56Y) and "Swallow My Pride" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq_O_1JcP98&feature=related) that are worth checking out.

Before "Smells Like Teen Spirit" . . . hell, before "Touch Me I'm Sick," "Swallow My Pride" was *the* grunge anthem.

Funny, i'm reading that post, and Nothingman comes on the radio. :D

Pearl Jam "covered" Swallow My Pride on their 1995 Christmas album. I'm sure that song will be played at the show.

I went to West Palm, Tampa, DC, and both MSG nights. My favorite set list was probably MSG II, or Tampa, but the energy at MSG I was amazing. The best I've ever seen at a concert.

WMA live is really worth it. The new version is so good. Also, Lover Reign O'er me is excellent.

I wake up this morning to find out that Eddie Vedder is going to be playing two nights in NYC on the days I'm going to be there. Today is a good day :)

Those Vedder solo tickets are outrageous. (I'm assuming that's PER ticket, not per two tickets, right?)

Yeah its pretty brutal. When I first joined the ten club it was 100 for two tickets. Now the seats are between 70-80 per, depending on the venue. EV solo has the same price as the PJ ones.

Did you see the prices for the charity shows at the Beacon? That was insane.

I bought a pair of tickets to see the band in 2003. I think it was around $45-$50 per ticket. Of course, I probably lucked out by living in Columbus, and not wanting to see them at MSG, or DC, or some other place which might be in higher demand.

It was also nice because they threw the parking costs in with the cost of the ticket and of course there was an opening band. On top of all that, a local radio station was giving away free tickets to some lollapalooza/warped tour/festival show and with that, we got pre-show access to a free dinner.

Not bad for that price. :)

Have tickets skyrocketed since then?

Have tickets skyrocketed since then?

Yeah, definitely. I actually went to MSG II in 2003 (can't believe I missed out on MSG I that year) and it was the same price as West Palm and Tampa, $50.

Now everything, even the small market places, are at least 70, with MSG being closer to 80. I guess its the gas.

I'm excited for Eddie Solo though. A buddy of mine that is as big of a nut as I am went to the show in California where they gave Eddie his golden globe. Apparently Arc is a real highlight and Hard Sun is amazing.

They're back to playing Arc? Interesting. I thought that song was only meant to be played live 9 times.

I'd still be surprised if it made the bootlegs.

Look through this thread for about 6-7 links in the same post. They go to a HELL of a lot of Ed mp3's, including about 4-5 different "versions" of Hard Sun.

Gas prices make sense though. Everything is going up, so i'm not surprised that concert tickets are going up as well.

That's Mark Arm, from last night's surprise Green River reunion show at the Sunset--the surprise show that everybody knew about. I'm stuck in Chicago, and my brother couldn't get tickets.

Gawd, I wish I could have been there. You have no idea.

So, i've been "wondering" some things lately. Stone seems to be a fan of red shirts. How many red shirts does he own? Is it just one, and he happens to wear it a lot? What do his "post-red shirt" plans consist of for when it wears out?

Ok, maybe not. Maybe it's just me, but he does seem to wear it a lot.

JEFF AMENT'S DEBUT SOLO ALBUM "TONE"

Jeff Ament's debut solo project, "TONE", is available now at select U.S. CIMS stores (http://www.cimsmusic.com/). "Tone" features ten original tracks by Jeff culled from more than fifty-plus "works in progress." Penned over the last eight years, the final collection offers a look into Ament's world of early life in Montana and how it has shaped his music. Much like Jeff's own life story, TONE tells the tale of a group of characters from a small town in Montana and their slow integration into life in the big city. The album emerged from his desire to take care of "unfinished business;" taking the original works and paring them down to a batch of like-minded and introspective songs.

Have any Pearl Jam fans seen My Morning Jacket live? I know they opened for PJ at some point over the past several years, but not when Is aw them.

Anyway, I'm going to see them Thursday and I'm super stoked. I've heard that they are Pearl Jam-esque with their awesome live shows.

Still a beauty.

Also, someone by the name of Hesoos has gone to YouTube and posted what appears to be video from their first show. It looks fairly authentic, or else i've been duped.

JEFF AMENT'S "TONE" AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD

Thanks to the fans who purchased Jeff's debut CD, "Tone." It was a big success thanks to you! Since more people want to hear it, Jeff wanted to make it available for download at a special price of $4.99 directly from pearljam.com.

“Tone” features ten original tracks by Jeff culled from more than fifty-plus “works in progress.” Penned over the last eight years, the final collection offers a look into Ament's world of early life in Montana and how it has shaped his music. Much like Jeff's own life story, “TONE” tells the tale of a group of characters from a small town in Montana and their slow integration into life in the big city. The album emerged from his desire to take care of “unfinished business;” taking the original works and paring them down to a batch of like-minded and introspective songs.

Featuring a little help from drummer Richard Stuverud (The Fastbacks, War Babies, Three Fish) and King's X frontman Dug Pinnick, “TONE” is raw and touches on many musical influences; a searing collection of tracks that trace back to Jeff's early music roots. In his own words “TONE” is Jeff “unchecked, left to his own devices, playing instruments he is not comfortable with, singing, pushing and painting himself into corners.”

“TONE” Track Listing:

1. Just Like That
2. Give Me A Reason
3. Bulldozer
4. Relapse
5. Say Goodbye
6. The Forest
7. life Of a Salesman
8. Doubting Thomasina
9. Hi-Line
10. The Only Cloud In The Sky

EDDIE VEDDER WRITES FOREWORD FOR NEW PETE TOWNSHEND BIOGRAPHY

Eddie Vedder has written the foreword to "Who Are You: The Life of Pete Townshend", an exhaustive, critically acclaimed study of the life and career of the legendary guitarist and composer. Author Mark Wilkerson spent ten years researching and writing the 642-page book, and conducted exclusive interviews with Pete Townshend and several others, including Townshend's friends, family, and other associates. Wilkerson's book explores Townshend's West London roots, reminds us of the excitement he generated with The Who in those early days and brings his story right up to date with many fascinating stops along the way. The book, published by Omnibus Press, includes dozens of photographs and was edited by noted Who scholar and author Andy Neill.

TOM MORELLO, MIKE MCCREADY AND STONE GOSSARD JOIN TOGETHER FOR A GET OUT THE VOTE RALLY AND CONCERT

Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine/The Nightwatchman, Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and Stone Gossard Plus Special Guests Join Together for a Get Out the Vote Rally and Concert at Seattle's Showbox at The Market on November 3, 2008

Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine/The Nightwatchman, Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and his band Shadow '86, Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard with the Hank Khoir, Boots Riley of the Coup and special guests are set to perform Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Showbox at The Market. In an effort to encourage voter participation, this group of notable artists is joining forces for an Election Day-eve get out the vote rally and musical celebration. With the help of local and national voter education organizations, concertgoers will be encouraged to not only get to the polls the following day, but to spread the word to their social networks on the importance of voting. (Details on specific organizations and concert partners to be announced in the coming weeks.)

"Fellow Shadow '86 bandmate, Chris Friel, approached me with the idea of putting together a small get out the vote show," said Mike McCready. "When we learned Tom Morello was planning to be in town and had a similar vision, the idea just grew from there."

No stranger to the world of politics, Morello comes to Seattle on the heels of last Spring's Justice Tour where Morello and a host of other activist/artists took to the road to raise awareness on such issues as homelessness, social justice, living wages, veterans' rights and the importance of getting involved in the political process. Morello’s notable appearance at both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions followed up this effort, where he performed with his Rage Against the Machine bandmates.

"While we realize a large percentage of voters are planning to vote absentee this year, there are still countless individuals who plan to make their presence known at the polls," said McCready. "Our goal is to ensure that every person who wants to vote on November 4th is not only informed, but is motivated to encourage friends and family across the country to vote too."

Voter participation has long been a central theme of Pearl Jam's activism. Beginning with Pearl Jam's '92 'Drop in the Park' concert and continuing on through 2004's Vote for Change concert tour, Pearl Jam has remained an outspoken advocate on the importance of making your voice heard.
