Never seen a cricket match in my life. Scoring in cricket confuses the bejeezez out of me. When CNN or BBC flashes the scores i'm like.... ok then, who won.

I used to watch a lot of cricket when i was a kid .. I used to pretty good too .. Played for my school team .. But started losing interest, especially after loads of match-fixing scandals ..

Match fixing seems so simple in cricket compared to any other game !!

Simple answer...not England:(

Yeah I'm a big cricket fan and still play a bit.
I see the world cup as between Sri Lanka and Australia, who are by far the two strongest teams... though NZ (good team)and the West Indies (home advantage) are two outsiders who may upset this potential final.
Obviously I'm hoping Englang win but we really need a few players to step up a level if we are to do well.

Having said all that, the competition has been overshadowed by the murder of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer...a tragedy for both the sport and obviously his friends and family. He was a man who lived and breathed cricket and was one of the first men coaching multi-racial cricket in South Africa despite recieving almost constant threats from the authorities. (this was before the end of apartheid).
It is sad that his last contribution to the sport was leading Pakistan to a totally incredible defeat by Ireland, and while perhaps it is wrong to speculate, perhaps it was this defeat that led to his death...though I hasten to add, there is no way I believe Woolmer was involved with illegal betting.
However , in the same way as Andres Escobar was targeted after USA1994, it may be that Woolmer was the target of someone's anger.
Either way, I hope whoever did it swings.

Pakistan lost and the next day the coach was found murdered in his hotel room !! Can't get any worse .. Atleast Escobar was shot in his own country by soem fans .. Here, it is rumoured that bookies killed him, so that he doesn't reveal some bookie story in his new book ..

Bl**dy b@stards ..

I only noticed the cricket WC after the coach was "murdered". It is sad day for sport if the rumor is true.

Do they have capital punishment in the West Indies? If so then the killers seeds have already been sown. You can rest assure the prosecution would be pushing for it as it has tarnished the West Indies and the sporting spectacle.I would like to echo a similar sentiment here. It was a malicious, cowardly act by the perpetrator or perpetrators who have no respect for the wonderful work Bob did for cricket, but more importantly no respect for human life. I love sport but the day people start taking lives over it is a day that you are ashamed to be in anyway associated with it. However, it is only the distinct minnority who are narrow-minded idiots.

Sri Lanka have been the most impressive side by far. They are competing in the group of death but managed to win all 3 games comfortablly. Bermuda, no offence to any Bermudans, was a free one but to destroy the upcoming Bangladesh and then beat India, a giant of the game who needed to win to salvage any hope of qualification was very impressive. It was a pleasure to watch the Jayasuryia's ton the other day.

Obviously you can't write of the Australians because of their reputation but I'm going to reserve judgement on them until after todays clash with South Africa who I also tip to go far. They had a terrible finnish to the triangular one day series against England and were embarrased by New Zealand in their last one day series before the competition. The pressure may be of for both sides today but you can rest assured that both sides will be going for the victory. I love watching South Africa play particuarly in the batting field. ONce a few of their batters get in they can play quite magnificant cricket.

And of course you can't rule out the Irish!! :D

I watched just 1 whole game so far.....the Bangladesh v India one....And guess what It was such a pleasant surprise ;) Why am I saying that, cause I'm a Bangladeshi...lol :p *hides from RealMadGunner, cause terrified of getting shot at*

People who watched that match have to admit that the Bangladeshi, bowling and fielding was superb on that day, and the early wicket of Tendulkar did the job....Anyway, that was a helluva match tbh and yes I'm happy that Bangladesh are hopefully going through to the Super 8 after they beat Bermuda...

Srilanka is a very good team, with very good balance between bowling, batting and fielding....The main competition will probably be against Ireland, South Africa and Australia......How is New Zealand doing btw?

Actually, didn't watch the Ban-Ind game comepletely, but heard you guys played awesome .. I'll pray for them too ..

One good thing about getting knocked out of WC is that it's gonna give other games a chance, especially football and hockey .. And I wont' hear peopel at work shouting out the scores ..

I have a question, why are the threads closed after crossing 500 posts?

The mods have to keep the thread sizes down so it is regulation for all threads to not exceed 500. Sometimes if a mod isn't around it may continue but when he shows up it must be closed.

The real reason is probably because BS is cheap and won't get a bigger better server. Which is the reason why our sigs and avatars are HARSHLY regulated and rep points mean squat.

Hope that answers your question.....

Oh and don't you have something you should of done already? :D

I am so glad we have practical size avatars and signatures here. Forums that allow big ones are totally unreadable. It's ridiculous to have a giant mudflap of a signature for every post (especially for a one line comment or worse, just to say "lol".) We can put big pictures on our profiles if we want, so there's no need to walk around like peacocks dragging around big showy tail-feathers. Just my two cents. :p

Promises are meant to be broken  . Besides, I love BS too much to go away now. *evil laugh*

...although it is kinda hard to limit the posts to 3 smileys and a teeny weeny avatar and no img allowed in the sig :( . I s'pose a medium size siggy and avatar wouldn't hurt...

I'm not for the huge mess which appears in other forums, just wished they'd be more easy going with the amount of space. It's ridiculous to hold non paying members to tiny avatars and one line sigs.

It's also a drag to hold paying members to very small sigs, however our avatars are regular sized.

Yeah, madridismo, the silence from you is a little scary...

He might be planing to go through with that which he promised to do.
