what about all the other players in the past that didn't make it in Europe? does that mean they're terrible soccer players and we should not even allow them on our national team? Eric Wynalda didn't have a real stellar career overseas, so does that mean he sucks, being that he's our country's all-time leading scorer?

Paul Caliguiri swooped around the 2nd division of the Bundesliga for a while before coming back here.

Sure, european soccer is the pinnacle of acheivement for a player. but, you can't disregard what those players have done for our country.

I'm pretty sure that it was Donavon this weekend, not Dempsey, who played with any real passion on the pitch. Dempsey looked like he had two left feet.

I just think Donovan is a waste and he's like a Holy Cow because of that I never said anything about any other players I just think Donovan is a lucky lucky little boy.

or wayne rooney.
i read that he hasn't scored in a england shirt since euro 2004. don't know if that is true but if it is, then wow.

and that dempsey video is all against the MLS. none of those goals are good or really matter according to you devil. to me dempsey is just another crappy MLS player that sits on the bench in england. [/sarcasm]

MLS is not crap but it won't get better if the players don't go out and get better they will be back but whats the point when they stay at the same level...

I'm fairly certain it's been a while since he's scored in the Champions League as well.

The MLS wouldn't necessarily get better if our best players go to Europe. Wouldn't there be less talent here then? I think you mean more that if they leave, the national team will get better, and if they became more of a prominent winning side, then our citizens might become fans. which would spark interest in the MLS, and have more money put into the league, bring better players over. etc. etc.

so much has to be changed first though. each team needs a separate owner. and, they should have a single table, incorporate all the "professional" divisions into the mix, and have promotions of teams from the USL up to the MLS, and vice versa.

Rooney does need to score more.

But the good thing about him is he is a massive play maker which sometimes draws him out from shooting chances. But we have to remember he is still young and has a lot to learn.

So if they go to Europe and then come back washed up that makes the MLS better. I would love to see Landon in Europe but if Landon does not want to go to Europe to sit on the bench then its not that bad. He improves the MLS by staying.

Landycakes sucks.

I could have scored those goals.

Until he leaves his crib (and I don't mean like MTV Cribs, I mean like he's a baby) here in the US and DOESN'T come crying and running back home, I'll have no respect for him.

I hope Beckham talks some sense into him and kicks his arse out of LA.

Clint Dempsey's bro, Lance, played for a college about 20 minutes from me.. but he graduates this year. I guess apparently the story went that Lance went for a US tryout, and Clint was just there dribbling and stuff, and they saw him and wanted him... apparently Lance was still really good in uni though.

Um, thats not the case at all. My sister goes to Queens (the university where Lance goes) and my college team played his last year and he didnt get off the bench, and she said that he doesn't play much and isn't that good.

Riiiiiight. Thats probably the stupidest thing I've heard in a while. I'm sure you could hit a volley like the first one with your weak foot, I'm sure that you could have outran the Ecuadorian defense and neatly tucked that second goal away, and I'm sure that you could have hit that last shot upper 90 like that from 22 or so yards out. Oh, all against world cup talent too. I look to be seeing you on the national team in the next few years. Some people on here are true idiots.

Gotcha - apparently I was told wrong then. I had heard he was still worth watching.

Donovan is like the poor mans version of Le Tissier. No doubt he's talented but he's content to be the big fish in the little pond.

Idk, maybe he has some good tricks or something, all I know is that he is no where near Clint's ability.

I'm not a fanboy. I just think its stupid that the guy is clearly our most talented player and so many people hate him. I also think its stupid for you to say that those goals weren't that good and that you could have scored them. Idiot.

The US national team is pants. So pants in fact that if they don't buck their ideas up, they'll have to get back on the mayflower, re-patriate and play for McSven....

also...

So the dude that ran onto the pitch to punch fat frank lampard has been given a 3 year banning order as well as being fined £300…

Interestingly, another fan who also ran onto the pitch, has been done for “encroaching onto the field of play” and got slapped with an identical 3 year ban and £300 fine…

Moral of the story kids, so if u ever find yourself, in the heat of the moment, running onto a premier league soccer pitch, PUNCH FAT FRANK! Evidently the crimes been commited, so what u gotta lose! It’s a free shot!
