Well it turns out i've had a slight tear for a while now, like 2 years. LOL i'd actually play with it like this too!
I was first diagnosed as having tendonitis, but i guess it turned out to be worst...
Has this ever happened to anyone? As im about to get surgery soon, but im deciding whether to or not, As i function daily perfectly, its just when running or playing futbol that my tendon gets really sore, and turns into a PITA for the next couple days.
Have any of you guys have this operation to fix it? Mine is a slight tear, but is cutting myself open worth it and having this down time? Any of you guys over come it without surgery?

This is scaring me. :(
I went to PT for supposed tendinitis but I'm not sure if it's 100% yet. I hope I don't have something like this... :(

Not really that sore after playing. It's more of if i take a hard shot or do a scissor quickly..

Chances are your not like me, its really sore after i play, and it hurts for osmetimes a whole week. So i'd think your ok, but if your really concerned i'd go check with a knee doc. for sure.
Just ice it, for a little bit during the times it hurts.

I was diagnosed with tendonitis as well, and my doctor told me after a month or so it shouldn't bother me(I had been playing non-stop from october to september, when I finally went to the doctor). my knee would get really swollen, especially in the beginning of August. I couldn't kneel on that knee as it sent sharp pain through it, and even the slightly tap in the problematic area made me cringe.
I took about 3 months off, and it started feeling pretty good. and, now that I've started back up training(running and lifting a lot), it seems to be fine. sometimes if it gets hit, in the perfect spot, it'll bother me a couple days.
I guess if it bothers you to the extent that it affects your play, you should probably really consider it. or if it's highly recommended by your physician.
