I am going for book shopping this weekend so could anyone propose me a good book.
Books like Da Vinci Code or Lord of the Rings would be great.

Thanks

Those books are not my sort of read, but I would recommend 'Vernon God Little' by DBC Pierre as one of the best books I've read recently. Quite a dark little story about a lad in the aftermath of a high-school shooting and the media frenzy that follows. A bit reminiscent of Catcher in the Rye.
DBC Pierre also has a new book out but I've not had a chance to read it yet.

I enjoyed the Da Vinci Code (the movie was awful). If you've read Da Vinci Code and enjoyed it, another good Dan Brown read is Angels and Demons.

I love to read, but with a 5 year old and a nine month old it isn't easy. It is one thing I love to do on vacation ... sit by the pool/beach with a good book.

I'm a John Grisham and Michael Creighton fan, myself.

Ugh, I hate that book. I was forced to read it as I had to do damn English coursework on it.

Anyways,

Angels and Demons > Da Vinci Code

IMO.

The similarity just comes from the fact that we see everything from the point of view of the main character, who happens to be a teenager....They are written in a similar style rather than being similar books, if you see what I mean.

Oh, I see.

Well Catcher in the Rye is hardly the most boring book I've ever read. Anyone ever tried reading War of the Worlds? I couldn't get past page 40 it was so dreadful. It was like "I went here and did this...and then I went here and did that...met so and so...and then I left to go on to another place..." I had to do that for English coursework too... Thank God for Wikipedia plot summaries. :p

I remember reading Catcher in the Rye for a literature class. I also remember reading "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair for a history class that same year.
I preferred "The Jungle".

One of our schools' sginature reads was a book called Shogun. It actually wasn't bad, but as a high school student, the sheer size of that thing was overwhelming.

The books we had to read in school were terrible. Perhaps the most famous one was "Lord of the Flies", but I couldn't stand my English teachers impersonations of every charachter. The high pitched impression of Piggy still haunts me.

It drove me to actually enjoying plays more than Novels. Very fond of good ole Shakespeare. Now I don't get much time to read novels because the reading for my course is so demanding.

I never read if I can avoid it. Other than textbooks, I've only read maybe a couple of books in my life and it never done to me no harm.

I was half way through that book before i forgot it in my dorm room and travelled several months later i find it again and i know i can't pick off where i stopped but im too lazy to start over again :p

im currently reading a million little pieces by james frey i got half way through this book in 2 days before i forgot it on a plane :P ( i nearly always lose my books when i travel ) i recently got my hands on another copy hopefully this time il actually finish it :P

oo and Eduu i read all for of those Dan Brown books and i enjoyed every one of them. After reading those i read "Cat and Mouse" and first to Die by James Patterson but after that i sorta got sick of that type of stories and switched to something a bit funnier the name of the author escapes me now but if i remember il mention which books i've read later.
