Yes, but the real problem is the wanker in charge.

Sure england need J.Cole on left he's the best to play there

But even with J.Cole we still hav a striker problem cuz I don't see Crouch or Defoe as good to be on team big as ENGLAND

& don't forget the goalkeeper but I think Foster was good at the game with spain....

Joe Cole does not solve the problem in the middle of the park. If anything, Owen is missed far more.

Yes, terribly. One of the few English players with the technique to play in confined spaces and play without looking to get the ball out of his feet before he even knows what he wants to do with it.

I struggle to think of another English player who even comes close to Cole's dribbling ability

nah, i think coles great but id rather a left footed winger, downing is good but not quiock enough

like teso said we miss a goalscorer

We have plenty of potential goalscorers but lack the ability to knit any kind of meaningful play together. Cole & Scholes would have linked up well at International level I suspect

Yes, since Cole is one of the only players England have who can create something on his own, if necessary.

Of course he is missed... as well as Michael Owen...

I don't think he's a huge miss if Gerrard is playing on the right as we would become far too narrow as we did with Beckham on the right, but we do miss his ability to conjure something out of nothing. If we were playing with a true right winger then he would be missing him much more.

To be fair Cole does create width, no other English player comes close to his ability to dribble in tight spaces so close to the line when under pressure. Fair enough he wont get in many crosses by going on the outside but as an outlet providing width in possession, he is the best England have by some margin.

God knows why A Cole continously ran inside of him at the World Cup.

Potentially I agree.

He can dribble the football, a precious commodity in an English player, hence why I value him higher than Scholes.

Cole takes more touches per movement than Gazza did but Gazza's burst of speed and upper body strength was unparralled.

Without the injuries and booze he would have been the best player in he world.

Frankly, Gazza was an f ing genius

More Gazza

A shame he had such hideous injuries at Lazio as he showed he had the ability in the spells he was fit to make a real impression in Serie A.

If only Ferguson had got his hands on him. It is something he has always mentioned as a major regret. Stupid Gazza. :(

yes. I think he was our best midfeilder last year. Gerrard and Lamps didnt work well together and beckham tried but it wasn't what we needed. Joe Cole provided goals, opportunities, creativity and speed to our game. He could turn a game around. I seriously think this guy is very underrated.

That's a quality video, just makes you sad that he ended up doing half the stuff he did.
