I am looking for some good material to help me out with my coaching and knowledge of the game. I am currently coaching a coed U-8 team and have coached U-6 in the past. I am planning on moving up to a boys U-10 team in the fall. I have never played soccer. I am looking for ways of learning and coaching both the game and terminolgy used.

Moving this from Youth Soccer to the Coach forum, where you might find more help.

If you have a decent library in your area, I'd hit that first... grab a few different books and read through them. That'll help a lot with the "knowledge of the game" and terminology areas. After you've done that, Google is your friend -- ww.google.com

Just enter something like "soccer drills" and you'll get a ton of sites. Try to watch as many games as possible, both in person and on television. Local college, high school, club games... anywhere that organized soccer is being played. You'll pick up more subtleties by watching and listening to what announcers, other coaches, etc have to say.

If possible, you might ask a local highschool or junior college coach if he/she has a player that might want to help out. Having an assistant coach that knows the game is another big help.

Good luck!
