How awesome was Emilio's celebration? Yeah, anyone would get excited to score a big goal like that and snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat in a hard-fought match, but this guy has worn a United kit for a mere 3 matches and he's already that passionate about scoring in front of the home fans. What a great find by the DC front office. I love that type of commitment, and I hope we see those type of celebrations from Emilio all season long. If he stays healthy all year, I can't see him scoring any less than 15 goals.

Why the [R]? Isn't it generally known by know that Emilio is awesome! :D

Obviously. But I didn't want to spoil it for those who are not yet aware of just how awesome he truly is. :)

In my parochial view, a Portuguese phrase isn't complete without at least one '...cao' and one "..inho" in it.

That is really the key. How long before the Jay Heaps-o'shits of the league hack Emilio into the hospital? He seems like a strong guy but other teams will resort to hacking him down all over the place.

Emilio has a chance
looked a little out of sync last night too, can't wait to see them when they've played 8 or 10 games together

I like that he hauled butt all game long. That extra effort got the goal.

I've watched Emlio for all of 3 games, but I've made some observations.
Emlio isn't slick, he doesn't dance with the ball, and he doesn't seem to have Eskie zoomer shots.
What he is, however, is incredibly practical. His goals aren't blasted shots, nor are they fancy crowd pleasers. Low down shots, a header to the ground, etc. This man plays a very efficient and practical game. He shoots low and hard, he wraps around people, he's just plain efficient. I'm most impressed by that.

Emilio é o cara!
(Not, not the face, slang for man/guy).

I am very much looking forward to this year. Emilio seems to be a "blue collar" type of player with a terrific work rate so far. A grinder. Which I love about him. I think he'll wear down some defenses this year till they do something stupid or make a mistake and he'll pounce and the ball will be in the net. A player like him with his skill that is just plain hungry for a goal will not be denied.
The great thing is is that Gomez and Moreno and him are still learning how to mesh well together. After a few more games and our offense should be on point.

He's the finisher we need, but he had a hard time elsewhere on the field last night. Chivas marked him tightly, frequently 2 guys on him.

Emilio was tightly marked last night. And whenever he, Jaime or Gomito had the ball, they were double, even sometimes tripled marked. Chivas did their homework and gave all 3 little space. On the goal, Emilio made a fantastic spin move to shake his defender and score. He is going to be a pleasure to watch this season.
