Still it's nice to have someone in Fifa think that we're better than Brazil :p

this shows fifa ranking is a disgrace, we lose to games but win one so were the best, not just that but we beat the frenchies 1-0  . this is just to create more security to coco. he better win the world cup in 2010. otherwise that vendido is going to get it :D /

The only way we can really be number one is if we win the world cup. But for now I'll be happy if we can win Copa America.
In a way, I think the ranking is somewhat fair. Argentina has done well, even though we didn't win anything recently at the top level other than the olympics. All our meaningful losses have been in the crapshoot of the tiebreaker only.
1) Copa America: Lost to Brazil in the final in penalty tiebreaker.
2) Eliminatorias: Tied for first with Brazil but they had better goal differential.
3) World Cup: Lost to Germany in penalty tiebreaker.
So, if we take away the tiebreakers, we didn't really have a meaningful loss. (I don't consider confederations to be really a meaningful tournament, even though we lost in the final.)

I agree that this ranking is not very meaningful, but my son will be very excited about it :D
Hoping in 2010 we can make the rating obvious!

This whole thing is utter crap and no statistics or a person can correctly point out a nr.1 team and so on, but it is nice to be the best team on the world on Fifa's ranking for the first time, though.:p

I don't know about these rankings, you know what they say...."when you can't win titles, there is always the ranking" Argentina even though was the last finalist in the copa america and finalist again at the confederations cup ( a worthless tournament), maybe than I could buy argentina being maybe a second best team in the world after brazil (they kicked our arses in both finals for those who live in a cave and didn't know). Now if we talk about now, after being beaten the crap out of by brazil again, and also by spain really makes me wonder. I never really respected the fifa ranking, the same one that had mexico amongst the top ten teams in the world when even bulgaria, a team that didn't even go to the WC managed to beat the crap out of them in their own stadium (in the US, which is basically like playing at home for them) makes you really think if this is not a manouver by fifa to promote some teams. For me to think that argentina is better than brazil or italy or even germany(remember there are no moral champions in this sport!!), our last executioner, even portugal could be as good as us and why not, maybe even better.

Well, we keep blaming the ranking, but is there an objective, possible ranking? I mean, among the top 10 teams, most teams could either lose or win a match against the other.
Yet, I feel that Argentina duly deserves its place in the top 4, when they are motivated like against France. And with the quality of the kids we have, a domination over the coming years cannot be excluded.

But first? I would say 3-4 instead.

Argentina continúa ocupando el primer puesto del ranking de seleccionados nacionales que elabora mensualmente la FIFA, pese a que el martes pasado perdió el invicto en la eliminatoria sudamericana para Sudáfrica 2010 ante Colombia.
