Great line from the GoffBlog: "Boswell's assertiveness, intensity, vocal leadership and mean streak -- yes, mean streak -- stood out today. Reminded me a bit of Ryan Nelsen."

Damn high praise.

FYP!

And yes, the original quote was indeed high praise. If Boswell is stepping up to show more organization and leadership, that is a "good thing" (to quote Martha Stewart).

And most importantly from the Goffblog: Perkins seems likes a pretty good bet for Thursday. It's not 100% certain yet but he sounds probable althought they may have a defender take the goal kicks (which would be really cool since Troy could move up to the center circle and try to win some headers) ;)

Also, he confirms that trialist Welton Carlos Silva did not get a contract offer.

Damn high praise. You have to figure that eventually he'd get pissed off at some of Erpen's brainfarts.

(to quote Martha Stewart). There is never an acceptable reason to quote Martha Stewart. However you are too good a regular poster for me to NegRep you just for that.

Can you imagine if Erpen tried some of his stuff with Nellie as his backline mate? It would have been ugly ugly ugly.

Just read the Wikipedia on Fred, They are stating that they are getting him for 180gs? Is this true?

Fits with what I've read. I think he was pulling in about half that in Australia.

But is that salary, or transfer fee?

Goff has written that DC United will pay Fred $150,000 in 2007. Which would be about $180,000 Australian Dollers per year. Or about 3 times what he made last year. That amount is all salary. Melbourne Victory FC are claiming that some transfer fee should be paid if United want him before is contract is up on June 30th. But the A League is out of season, and the club is not participating in any International competition between now and July. So they may have to let him go. Remains to be seen.

[cowboy swagger] If they want a transfer fee for a player out of season tell 'em we'll give them future consideration and the chance to walk outta here alive [/cowboy swagger]

Goff reports that Kiki Willis, the midfield/forward trialist from Elon that went back to Ohio (and found that his pretty countryside had been paved down the middle by a government that had no pride) with a sore toe a few weeks ago, has been signed to a developmental contract. He'll be back in camp tomorrow.

So Goff mentions that Chivas will practice twice tomorrow, once at RFK and once at an unidentified DC college. I originally guessed AU as they're on spring break but GW is also on spring break (and they have that super hidden Mt Vernon campus in upper NW, when it was still the women's school we called it Mt Mattress). Do we have anyone at those campuses who was too cool to make the scene in Cancun and can snoop around?
