I was thinking of making a banner for the Revolution. I am Argentinian and follow Boca Juniors, and over there it is common for fans t bring banners.

So, I was wondering, if I make a banner, what happens if I want to hang it on the side of the seats.

I tried to find pictures to explain this since I can't really explain it that well

Something like the fort thing, or like the Taylor Tally banner that they have.

I'm sure no one would object to more banners as it only adds to the atmosphere. Don't know where you could put it, but I'm sure everyone would be down for it. Be sure to share your ideas first though, we don't want something racist or anything....typical Milan fan:p

FYI, I support Milan too, so it's a joke amongst friends:D

There's been one on the north side of the stadium for the past two years.

So, I was wondering, if I make a banner, what happens if I want to hang it on the side of the seats.

The stadium permits them, provided the banners say nothing offensive. General banner etiquette here is just find a space that isn't already occupied--don't hang 'em over banners that are already in place.

I think just about everyone has a few ideas :)

How about the name of the team and then "6 States, 1 Team" under it? I'm sure many others will post ideas (we do this all time).

I say we make the Free Shalrie banner a permant fixture in the stands:D

Perhaps we could Millwall the place up and put some "No one likes us, we don't care" banners? Actually...shouldn't the winner of the tagline threads get it's own banner?

That was over last year.

That would be nonsensical at best and dumb at worst. Yes, we tend to get short shrift from the league on some things, but a) we have some pretty well-liked and admired players on our team and b) with only the rarest individual exceptions, by and large fans of other teams like our fans a great deal, as shown by the warm receptions our traveling support's gotten on last year's road trips. In fact, the camaraderie among fan groups is one of the best parts of being a US soccer fan. By all accounts, people do, in fact, like us, so if you must boost someone else's slogan, make it one that actually applies.

Here is a random idea I am not sure if it has been suggested elsewhere...I always liked how the English would use St. George's cross and write on it...why don't we do that with Old Glory and put New England Revolution in the bars or maybe the "shield" in the union of the flag.

I am getting a few more New England flags this year so I intend to hang them over the sides of places as well as give them out to people to fly.

Because it's wicked bad flag etiquette to write on the actual US flag. If you're going to do the "your place name here" on a flag, use the NE flag.

Didn't Chowda have an idea to put one of those Scottish patterns (can't remember what it's called, but you know) on a banner? I'm down for that.

Yeah, don't do that.

I seem to remember someone on either BigSoccer or Nas suggesting Sam's Army do that with U.S. flags in Germany. Needless to say, the responses he got weren't pleasant.

I am planning on purchasing a brand new, 3x5 Connecticut flag to display somewhere. Ed, are you still working on your idea with the flags?

Pattern? You mean tartan? Or the St. Andrew's cross?
