this is like choosing between pizza and steak....I LIKE THEM BOTH!!!!!:(
I agree - it's almost impossible to split them. Giggs has been one of my favourite players for over a decade but Figo is also tremendous.

Some of your arguments are ridiculous. Comparing the cup and league wins of the two players.
Those of you who think Ryan Giggs has evolved, while Figo has somehow lost talent, are in a dream world. The only thing Giggs has evolved into... is a dinosaur :D . After watching MUFC and Inter these past few seasons, I know Figo is the better player right now.

That post only proves that you have not watched either Man Utd or Ryan Giggs, particularly last season.

In his prime Figo was better, Giggs clearly holds the edge in longevity and consistency.
Its a toss up.

Figo hasn't exactly degenerated...he's a different player now, but it's not really a step down.

Figo is a world legend and will be remembered for a long time. Giggs will only be remembered by Man U fans. Without bias, Figo is hands down better. The best winger in our generation. It's not to say Giggs is a bad player just that Figo had an amazing career overall.

Completely agree with this. Giggs is a great player, Figo is the best winger in the last 10 years. Let's see Cristiano Ronaldo.

Figo at Inter Milan
Heres fans chanting his name after he scored!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru0Uai7NLDw
Heres Inters wining goal vs Roma in that epic 4-3 win scored by Figo...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jvsJXgwlHI
and here are some comps of his times at Inter...some ******* amazing plays considering hes 34
Giggs was pure crap for united the last 3 months of the season, while figo was Inters best attacking midfielder.
Cant believe someone had the audacity to claim Giggs was the much better player

I think the FIRST one was the best
Inter fans and management begged for him to stay, and looks like he'll accept, hes not going to Arabia anymore.
hopegully Quaresma joins him and teaches him some class, guise and poise...figo would be an amazing tutor.
Heres a short video of Figo obliterating Gattuso and Oddo.

Giggs was amazing.
Figo is a legend, he almost single handidly brought Portugal to the top..not even Ronaldo or Quaresma are half of what he is, and probably enver will be.
My favourite player ever..My only regret is to never see him playing live.

Giggs is/was great but Figo was better and had he won a World cup would of been ranked right up by there by all with Zidane as the best player of this Generation.
Figo is not as fast as he was but still transformed his game so that he is still the best player on Inter and was the best player on Real. And his form and the way he makes his team play better proves that. So to say Giggs transformed into a better player while Figo dipped is absolutely crazy.
Add to that the individual honours and it's hard to debate. I will give Giggs credit for playing with Wales rather then England so I will throw the international stage out of the window. But I will say that in the 70's, 80's, and 90's Portugal were not that far off from Wales internationally. Figo was a Huge part of making Portugal a serious contender and making them a favorite instead of a darkhorse in tournaments. Now Figo had Rui Costa and company to support him so the team was overall better but even still the way we played in the late 90's wasn't that smart and we relied heavily on Figo.

Giggs. It´s a great pity that he is so ridiculously underrated by those who, by their own admission, have barely seen him play. I advise all of these ´Figo´fans to take the time to look into his career.

i dont see what all the fuss abpt giggs is? how can you compare one of the best players to play the game with giggs? i watch man u on a regular basis nd i dont see why everyone is saying hes so great!? if anyone in the man u team needs to be phraised its scholes, without him manu were nothing, then he comes back and the team is turned around.
figo was one of the true greats of the game and giggs comes nowhere near!

You should do the same about Figo's career. Giggs is great no doubt but to think his longevity gives him the edge over Figo is crazy because Figo's Longevity is just as great if not greater then Giggs'.

Longevity, while a factor, is not something I have discussed at great length because there are far more important factors to consider. What I hate is that, cue the generalisation, Figo fans continually bash Giggs but Giggs fans do not do likewise to Figo because they have seen both play and know that it is a very close call. Those posters bashing Giggs and going OTT in their praise of Figo only highlight how biased and irrelevant their opinions on this subject are. It is to them that I advise they look into Giggs' career. Even if they did not see him domestically or internationally, there is no excuse for being ignorant to what he did in the CL. Watching Man Utd in the CL was all about watching another Giggs masterclass for me. I only wish the ignorant in our midst would take the time to look at what he did. Sadly they cannot be bothered, even when other people provide the links (as I have done before).

Teso, you're making too many assumptions. What needs to be questioned is whether or not you have watched Figo play over the last 10 years or even the last 2 years... not whether I or any other poster has watched Giggs. Everyone here can see you are a Manchester United fan and from the UK? much like most of the people here touting Figo have an interest in Portugal. The only difference is that these Portuguese fans have been watching MU over the last few years for obvious reasons while you probably haven't had much of an interest in Inter Milan.
Your opinion is biased so please stop trying to play it off as though you're neutral.
I rest MY case.

The vast majority of people will have seen Figo play for Barca, Real Madrid, Inter and Portugal over most of his career. The same simply cannot be said for Giggs' career and the vast majority of posts in this thread and elsewhere are proof of that, as is your post. That was the point I was making. Figo fans bash a player they admit they have seen little of. People who have actually seen a lot of both, myself included, known that there is little between them. Do you understand any of that?
