Hey everyone,

I'm moving to Phoenix in June, as I got a position with the Phoenix Coyotes. I've only been to Phoenix 3 times, and so I know very little about it.

I'll be working in Glendale, so where should I live? I was looking to live somewhere in the Glendale-Tempe-Peoria triangle, where its close to work and still fun for a young guy.

Also, I'm looking to get on a team for a men's league. I talked to the PASL people, but I guess they play on the east side of the city which is logistically impossible for me to get to in less than an hour.

If any of you can help me out with this, I'd appreciate it! And don't forget to come to ME when you want to buy some Coyotes tickets! :)

I haven't read into anything but there looks like there are a ton of apartments and condos being built right in the same area as Jobing.com Arena but overall the there should be plenty of great places in that triangle and if not I know for a fact that there are some nice houses and apartments available in the Litchfield Park area because that is where I am at.

Shoot me a pm if you want ill do my best to help.

Thanks a lot - I looked at the Westgate website yesterday, and they said the condos/apts were coming "early 2007" but it appears as though they might be behind schedule, as the website was only 1 page and its already March.

Is Litchfield Park a community in itself, or is it part of Glendale/Tempe/Peoria?

This whole situation is weird for me. I mean I went 1500 miles from home to go to school, but I hadnt even been to Phoenix until November, and now I've been 3 times and I'm moving there. But I like it, and I dont like cold weather, so I'm looking forward to it.

Oh - and I'm gonna be talking to everyone I can to get that MLS deal in motion!

Litchfield Park is a town about 8 miles from Westgate and it takes me about five to ten minutes to get to the stadium depending on traffic.

The condo building might be opening before June they tend to finish things quickly and make deadlines but just barely.

Correction - I saw ASU on the focused map of the Glendale area, but that's apparently ASU-West, so Tempe is not in the area I'll be looking.

Everything in San Diego is pretty easy to get to in a short time because of geographic constraints, but I guess Phoenix is one of those spread out metroplexes like Dallas

Welcome to Phoenix. Here are my tips.
1. Make sure you have shade on your back patio in the afternoon. The sun here in the valley is relentless. Have covered parking for your car at your home.
2. The shorter trip to work the better. Live close to your work. Time you spend in your car is wasted time.
3. Make sure you can get satellite TV at your home. Cox cable is ok. The two satellite providers are better.
4. Make sure you can get high speed Internet at home.

These 2 have already been investigated, no worries :)
I have a 46" HDTV at home right now with Dish Network, but I think I'll switch to DirecTV when I move so I can get Setanta as well.

Welcome. Don't get an apartment with a main western exposer. Other than that stay north of I-10 and West of I-17 within a mile of the 101 and you'll have an alright commute.

I would suggest the following two zip codes for finding a place to live that is nice and close to Westgate...

85308 and 85310 in Glendale.

Take a look at apartments in those two zip codes and you should be able to find something nice in the budget you are looking for!

85308 and 85310 in Glendale.

Based on what google maps brought up, those seem a little far north, I think?

What about
85312
85311
85302
85301
85305 (which is right next to westgate)
85019

(I typed those in randomly to see where they were)

welcome to AZ palermo. What position did you land with the Coyotes if you don't mind me asking? Hopefully you can score of the left wing. JK

PASL (http://www.phxsoccer.com) plays on garbage fields, but they're going to be the closest league to you.

If you want to go further southeast, Football Arizona (http://www.evslcup.com) is well organized and competitive.

There are several guys on my club who live in the N. Phoenix/Glendale area that play in the Scottsdale League (http://www.suasl.com).

There used to be a couple of Latino leagues, LIFA and LAFA, not sure if they're around still.

Mesa/Tempe has a competitive co-ed league on weeknights as well, it's pretty far out there though.

I know people on clubs in the Phoenix, Scottsdale and Football Arizona leagues. If you want info on tryouts, kickarounds, etc., let me know.

Inside sales rep. Which means if anyone on BigSoccer doesnt come to me first for season tickets, group tickets, single game tickets, whatever... then we are going to have problems ;)

I talked to PASL and they said they were too far away. I would be interested in some tryouts if stuff is relatively close. Idk how much time I'll have during the week but weekends I'll be lookin to ball it up

You might find something closer, but the more established, organized leagues are gonna be a ways from you.

So we are putting in applications for a place in Rovey Farms Estates, just north of the arena, 85305. Its a really nice place, a great neighborhood for families :-/

But I think we are gonna have a game/movie room for the big games :)

The above are good suggestions --especially if you can get a condo near the stadium. Alternatively, live in a condo downtown. You'll have a "reverse commute" so traffic won't be horrible (but even then, it isn't great).

As for the Coyotes, I look forward to begging you to hook me up w/ some autographs. ;)

We have a great house right by Westgate, we've been here about a week.

I found some soccer to play last week with some Mexicans, and I found out that the old injury is completely healed. So I'd like something a little more competitive if anybody is involved with stuff in the west valley?
