Before we answer, could we also have the capacity for each venue, so we know how close to sellouts those numbers are?

I don't understand one thing, our average attendance at the Albion on here is more than what a sell out would be. Have you been counting the players aswell?

And Bolton's is less, the capacity of the Reebook is 27,500.

Very impressive given the growth since the Premiership began. But with Sunderland and West Ham getting relegated, it's going to be very difficult for next season's attendances to match up even with Man City moving to their new stadium. I expect Premiership attendances to be pretty flat to slightly lower until Arsenal and/or Liverpool move to their new stadia.

In Division 1...

Leicester averaged 29,230
Wolves averaged 22,825
Portsmouth averaged 18,933
Sheffield United averaged 18,069

Sunderland (39,698), West Ham (34,432) & West Brom (26,730) are all going down.

If Wolves are promoted, that's 29,172 difference across those 3 teams which translates to a nearly 1500 drop in the overall average if they kept the same average attendance in the EPL next year. If Sheffield United are promoted, it's a 34,628 drop or over 1700 drop in overall average.

What is the capacity of the stadiums for Portsmouth, Leicester and Sheffield United / Wolverhampton? How much opportunity do they have to improve their EPL attendance over their D1 attendance?

Also, isn't something changing at Fulham? Are they going back to their own place or staying where they where they were this year 1 more year?

What is the capacity at the new Man City stadium?

I heard this year was a "50 year record" for the league.
Any details on that? I do know it does lead Europe for attendence.

I think we can safely say, based on past experience, that the three promoted teams will get essentially capacity crowds as their average. That'll be 19k (Portsmouth), 32k (Leicester) and either 27k or 30k (Wolves or Sheff Utd). That's either a 23k or 20k drop on the relegated clubs. Man City's new stadium holds 48k and they are almost certain to sell it out. That's a 13k increase. So taking all that lot into account leaves us with a decrease of between 350 and 500 in the overall average.

I'm sure there were larger crowds before they made the stadiums all seater.

57,000 at Arsenal?

Does that mean that no one sat at Highbury?

We have now identified that the EPL is pretty much like the NFL - the only tickets available to ordinary people (those without connections) through legitimate channels on a single-game basis are the worst seats to the worst matches involving the worst sides.

Furthermore, I'll betcha the EPL view on this is pretty much the same as the NFL's - that scarcity intensifies demand.

Attendances are really good these days. Places like Blackburn and Bolton are only small but they can still bring in 25,000 a week.
Newcastle for the size of the city bring in alot of people.
It only has a population of 180,000 but they bring in 52,000 almost every week.

Umm...

'small' Bolton has a population of 300,000, it's the largest town in Europe. The problem is we've got Liverpool and Everton 25 miles south west, Manchester United and Manchester City 10 miles south east and Blackburn 15 miles north. Can you say competition?

Teams like Bolton that have other teams right next to them due face stiff competition {even worse if the team next door is better}.
