Well, it's time to start this thread up. This is a huge game. What will Mac do? Who will he call up? Formations, tactics, potential lineups.. Let's get this started.. I am pumped for this game!!

When is the match?

as for the game, anything like the previous preformances then we're in trouble.

Id bring Butt back into the squad as he is looking fit for Newcastle, he's shown in the past he has the quality to play a holding role for England and because Hargreaves is the only other squad regular who is good enough in that role.

Knowing Mcclaren he ll probably pick Parker instead

Sat. Mar 24th.. I think we will field a stronger lineup. Injury situation is a little better, I think..

I'd like to see this squad on the field for the game...
That is with the current injury situation... Terry should be ready to go.

I read somewhere that Mclaren was considering using Everton's formation as a template i.e playing Johnsen as a lone striker with Rooney roving behind him in a Cahill type role.

Isreal will genuinely think that they can beat England and think its important that we tread carefully.

.....................Someone................................
Neville..........Ferdinand.....Terry.........Bridge....
................Butt.............Hargreaves...............
...Gerrard.........Rooney..........Lennon..............
.....................Johnsen.................................

Personally im not keen on AJ as an International footballer but in this formation I can see England winning a lot of quick ball high up the pitch and therefore a quick striker running would cause problems.

Certainly not the personnel I would like to see long term but I feel this side could come away from a potentially difficult encounter with a win.

I thought Joe Cole was dead?

That's basically a 4-5-1 formation, and it's safe to say, not a productive one to use...In the little bit of practice time together that the squad will have, I think they need to gel with what they know best..

Ashley Cole is supended and Joe Cole won't feature, Rumours it's going to be Dyre on the left.

I'm worried about all the players coming back from injury.

Terry
A. Cole
J. Cole
Hargreaves

Those four have all just come back from injury.

I would really like to see Jermaine Pennant for England. He has David Beckham-like delivery and loads more pace.

Its easily interchangable, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 etc

and it's safe to say, not a productive one to use...

4-5-1 may not be pretty, but can be mightily effective.

This formation is hardly foreign to them.

Benching Gerrard would be ludacris..

What are your views on Jermaine Pennant? Do you think he deserves a call-up?

You're right.. Forgot about Ash's suspension.. It's been too long..:D

I know Lennon doesn't usually play on the left. With his speed, he could do a good job possibly. Otherwise you have Downing, or switching Gerrard to the left and Lennon on the right..Will Bridge be available?

He is a good talent, not at the expense of Gerrard though..

Id rather him ahead of SWP and the non-footballer that is Scott Parker.

I wouldn't mind seeing him on, in place of Phil Nev...:D

Has been recently for Spurs, woefully one footed though and ALWAYS cuts infield, but he the has pace to still be dangerous.

Very apt.
