Lao-Tseu, or is it Confucius ? Anyway, the kind of high school level philosophy...

I translated the part where it says "the fool". I thought it merely mean't "the man". Again, what was the 'llama butchers' in the picture about?

actually it's much more likely that the area was flattened by allied bombardment, as is the case with most of the areas around normandy or maybe the rest of france. nevertheless, one can always pose the question, 'what were the germans doing there in the first place,' but that's a long long long explanation.
** and indeed, the island (a part of the german's atlantic wall) was flattened as a result of heavy aerial bombardment by the allies

And people wonder why some French people dislike the Germans  .the only dislike i feel about germany these days is from school kids who find german a hard language to study. i tried to get guignol jr. to take it but he opted for spanish!
the dutch on the other hand, really have it out for the germans! when i lived there german tourists would often get their beer orders refused with the quip, "bring back my bicycle!"
