Hi I’m new in these forums
Not knowing the rules of the forum I decided to start a thread
Many of your discussions about el tri tend to end up signaling that although we have a bright future (and by god the future looks really good dos Santos Vela Guard ado) we are not there just yet
If history shows us something is the fact that Mexico has always suffered of a strange disease
What I mean by disease is really the fact that at specific times the TRI lacks of one or more skilled players at a certain position\
Proof? During the 90's especially the early 90's Mexico had a great offensive team (Hugo, Hermosillo and Zaque), but the team lacked of good defenders. Although we had Claudio Suarez, that was really all we had
Today we have a great defense with Rafa, Salcido, Osorio, and even Aaron Galindo who sure has a lot of talent. A fantastic mid field with Guardado, Gio dos Santos (future) Venado medina, perhaps even Pavel\
What the TRI needs is a Carlos Hermosillo kind of player. I was talking to my homeboy Juan at work today that It would be amazing to have venado in one side of the field, Guardado on the other side of the field and a carlos Hermosillo kind of guy who would have a pretty high percentage of effectiveness.
Who could be our next Carlos Hermosillo Kind of guy? That I don't know, I sure hope cArlitos Vela is that ma, Landin sounds pretty good, even Omar Bravo who is on a pretty good rhythm as of late
Thoughts?

7/10.
You've got potential Kid.
"Homeboy Juan" reference brings your act down a notch or two in my opinion.

the guy got called and came. ok, cool. he was injured and couldn't play. ok, understandable. about 4 days later, he "miraculously" recovers and plays for his Greek team. hmmm...wtf?!

Who says we did not have good defenders back then?
In the 90s we had Ruiz Esparza and he would have been the man in our 1990 team had it not been for the cachirules. We had the last 2 good years of Alfredo Tena's career. We had (albeit, briefly) Abraham Nava. If you knew Suarez, hell yeah you should have known the all-Mexican Pumas defense of 1991. If you were around before 1994 you should have known most people thought Lupe Castaneda was greatly overlooked by Mejia Baron.
Esparza got injured, Nava sucked in Necaxa, Tena was on his way out, Lupe actually got his chance and sucked with the NT...
Although Hugo Sanchez actually played very little with the natl team between 1986 and 1992, and Hermosillo was not called by Mejia Baron until the very end of the process, the Lapuente and Menotti Zague/Hermosillo tandem had one thing we now utterly lack: height.
You see, BS posters and socks of posters alike have an infatuation, a manly admiration, a platonic delirium, a NAMBLA-like idealization of big, tall, muscular Mexican men like Roberto Nurse or Landin, despite not being very good. Both still have a chance to improve their act, but Landin sometimes loses ground.
So, until we import tall, muscular, soccer-playing specimens and have them impregnate Mexican women amidst a soccer-playing environment and not pushing them to please OUR expectations, I guess we'll have to wait at least 18 years to see if our biological experiment works.

One thing is for sure, you can count Omar Bravo out. That fool ain't gonna do chit. Vela definately needs to start getting playing time.
