"Helping D.C. United to look like the team that used to regularly win will be one of the US game's greatest emissaries, John Harkes. The Capital Cup encounter is also his retirement match, and the man ...deserves a spirited send-off from fans and players alike."

To steal a chant from the Dropkick Murphys:
Say hey Johnnie Boy the battle call
United we stand, divided we fall
Together we are what we can't be alone
You came back here to DC
And made it your home!
I'm really enjoying the Plenderleith columns. Job well done, Ian - keep up the good work!

"However fortuitous the capital-city qualification to compete for it, a trophy's a trophy, and neither Tottenham nor DC has laid their hands on one since 1999".
I guess Ian P missed our double-winning 2003 season. Lest we forget, DC United the current holders of both the Atlantic Cup and the Copa Banagricola!
