So are these draws random , or are they planned ?

Last year IIRC , they unveiled the groups , which means the venues for each group were planned ... ?

If this is the case , it looks like we might get the HDC , seeing as how they have a friendly in San Jose on June 2nd.

Can't remember there ever being a time where the Gold Cup groups were decided by draw. Ask Cuba, Canada, and Costa Rica how they seem to end up together all the time.

And Jamaica didn't qualify.

Is that based on fact, or a hope?

And Jamaica didn't qualify.

I'm admittedly completely out of the loop here, but isn't it rather shocking that Jamaica failed to qualify against the likes of Guadeloupe, Cuba and Haiti? I knew the Reggae Boyz had gone downhill since 2002 but this is a bit surprising -- to me anyway.

I knew the Reggae Boyz had gone downhill since 2002 but this is a bit surprising -- to me anyway. There were three rounds of qualifying and they didn't get out of the first-round group they hosted. As was mentioned, there was a three-way tie with 2-1 records, but "the reggae boyz were eliminated from the Digicel Caribbean Cup as they lost the tiebreakers to the Haitians (goal difference) and the vincy heat (head-to-head)." (http://www.concacaf.com/competitions/goldcup/viewArticle.asp?id=3580)

The 1-2 loss to St. Vincent & the Grenadines (http://www.concacaf.com/competitions/goldcup/viewArticle.asp?id=3576) killed them.

Group/Grupo D GP/PJ W/G L/D T/E +/- PTS
Haiti 3 2 1 0 11:3 6
St. Vincent & The Grenadines 3 2 1 0 10:5 6
Jamaica 3 2 1 0 7:2 6
St. Lucia 3 0 3 0 1:19 0

27.9.2006 Haiti - St. Vincent/Grenadines 4:0 (1:0) Kingston, JAM
27.9.2006 Jamaica - St. Lucia 4:0 (4:0) Kingston, JAM
29.9.2006 St. Lucia - Haiti 1:7 (0:4) Kingston, JAM
29.9.2006 Jamaica - St. Vincent/Grenadines 1:2 (0:0) Kingston, JAM
1.10.2006 St. Vincent/Grenadines - St. Lucia 8:0 (3:0) Kingston, JAM
1.10.2006 Jamaica - Haiti 2:0 (2:0) Kingston, JAM

Mexico should be in NY/HOU, and the USA in LA/NE. At least you would think, since NE is a more suitable place for the USA in the quarterfinals (likewise HOU for Mexico). I guess that we can have two more games in LA, since the other teams are ones who will be drawing fans.

Haiti will be in Miami, while Cuba won't. I would imagine Costa Rica would headline that group since they're the third best team.

Guess:

LA/NE-United States, El Salvador, Guatemala, Trinidad
NY/HOU-Mexico, Panama, Honduras, Cuba
MIA-Costa Rica, Canada, Haiti, Guadalupe
