"El Pibe de Oro" Maradona.
"El Muneco" Gallardo.

There are way too many nicknames.. Almost every Argentine player has one...

"Burrito" Ortega
"Kun" Aguero
"El Negro" Astrada
"Paco" Gerlo :D :D
"El Loco" Palermo
"Kaiser" Passarella
"El Mexicano" :p Lavolpe
"Payaso" Aimar
"Conejito" Saviola
"Valdanito" Crespo
"El Jardinero" Cruz
"El Cabezon" or "Mandrake" D'Alessandro
"Lucho" Gonzalez
"Licha" Lopez
"El Torito" Cavenaghi
"Tyson" or "El Negro" Rivas
"Kity" Villagra
There's a loooooooot more...

Come to think of it, there was a thread on Argentine player nicknames. There were more questions on the origins of them than answers, but you can see some of them and read about their history.

yo nunca supe porque lo del "Muñeco" Gallardo?

From Wikipedia: Nicknamed El Muñeco due to his small frame (169 cm, 70 kg).

I've also heard because he moves around a lot, like one of those plush toys. (More doubtful, though).

Where do Tyson and Valdanito come from?

Nelson Rivas was nicknamed "Tyson" because of his big body.. He is big and black, something not seen to often in Argentina, so they compared him to Tyson. (No racism meant).

As for Crespo, they call him "Valdanito" comparing him to Jorge Valdano, a great Argentine foward.

I know you didn't ask about Gerlo, but just in case.. Put "Paco" and Gerlo together, and you will get "Pa'Cogerlo".. :D

For me Crespo doesn't play like Valdano although I didnt see Valdano play a lot.

I never knew a nickname of Crespo, I thought he didnt have one.

P.S. Anybody know where Payaso is from?

Would the Tyson nickname come from Mike Tyson?? The famous American boxer who's best known for his knockouts and chomping down on his opponents ears.:p
