I don't have a prediction for the match. However, we don't have many options as far as the starting lineup goes.

I think it will look like this:

GK: Weidenfeller

Right Back: Metzelder

Center Backs: Amedick, Woerns
(or Amedick & Brzenska, depending on Woerns' health & fitness)

Left Back: Kringe

Sweeper: Tinga or Kruska

Half Right Midfield: Ricken

Half Left Midfield: Tinga or Kruska

Central Midfield: Sahin

Strikers: Frei, Smolarek

We'll be better off the next week with Valdez, Degen and Dede returning from their yellow card (Valdez and Degen) and red card (Dede) suspensions.

They say sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can begin to rise up.

I think Nelson Valdez has hit rock bottom. Let's see how he fights back. This will tell us what kind of player we have in him.

Will be a crucial match...again :-(

Anyway, I think we will see an "easy" win. If we won't trash Cottbus, we are in real trouble.

If "thrashing" Cottbus is the barometer of if we're in "real trouble" or not, then I think we're in real f#ckin' trouble.

I don't think this BVB team is capable of "thrashing" our amateur team right now......

And I mean at full strength, much less missing Degen, Dede, Kehl, and Valdez........

Most definitely....that mindless boot to the stands last week pretty much sums up his emotion for this season....
If I am Roeder....I am not giving Valdez the starting spot and I am using him, exclusively, in a 'sparkplug' role.....

Like I said, I can't see it, but I hope you guys are right.

Because right now, this team looks about as good as a pile of horse manure.

And they smell like it too.

Sounds good to me. My bet would be that Frei scores 1 or 2 goals.

Well, I for sure hope that Frei will score 2 :D

Dortmund should be able to take this game at least 2 - 0. And lets face it: one week we win, next week we play like shit & lose... since this happend last weekend I am confident we will win this game

I hope that BVB will finally give their home crowd a match with goals.... But still they have to watch out for the Romanian attackers of Cottbus. I think Borussia will start a bit defensive, score the 1-0 and think of the points that could take them to European football.. So 1-0 in a dreadful, boring match...:)

Kicker's projected lineups & match information - Comments from me included ;):

BVB:

GK: Weidenfeller - Steady as usual. Expect the best from him.

Right Back: Metzelder - Hasn't played here since before his major injuries. Did well here as a youngster in place of Evanilson. We need him to come up big.

Central Defense: Amedick, Brzenska - I fear this pairing. They didn't do so well the last time they were forced to play together. Well, Amedick did, but Brzenska was horrible. Brzenska seems to be better off with the guiding hand of Metzelder out there with him.

Left Back: Kringe - Doing a nice job in place of Dede. Easily our most versatile player.

Sweeper: Kehl - I hope Röber plays Kruska here instead.

Right Half Mid: Tinga - I hope he can play.

Left Half Mid: Sahin - I hope he continues to improve. Hope we see a goal from him too.

Central Mid: Ricken - He normally plays well against Cottbus. Let's hope that "tradition" continues.

Strikers: Frei, Smolarek - I want goals from one of these two, if not both. If we get goals from both and a midfielder, we win.

BVB Reserves: Pirson (GK), Wörns, Amoah, Saka, Kruska, Hünemeier, Tyrala

Out of the match: Valdez (Second yellow card/sending off suspension due to extreme stupidity in Hannover), Pienaar (Torn ankle ligaments), Dede (Final match of red card suspension), Degen (Regular yellow card suspension after seeing fifth yellow of the season in Hannover)

They also list backup keeper Bernd Meier and 17 year old David Vrzogic, but neither has done anything for us this season anyhow and I really don't feel either one would have done anything. Meier is horrible and I feel Vrzogic will be nothing but another kid over-hyped by the BVB Propaganda Machine (management).

My comments: I don't think Kehl is going to play, much less start. Kicker says Tinga has had patellar tendon problems this week and speculates that Kruska may play in his spot.

If I were Jürgen Röber and if there is any way Tinga can play, I would keep Tinga in midfield and play Kruska at that sweeper spot kicker predicts Kehl will play in.

I would rest Kehl as much as possible and not rush him back.

I also hope kicker is wrong and that Wörns will play instead of Brzenska unless Wörns is just not fit.

And I am still wondering why we never see Uwe Hünemeier anymore. Was he a player only motivated by BvM? Is he a guy who plays much better in matches than he trains?

What gives? I know the couple of times he did play, he showed nice potential in central defense.

"jonam", do you guys know more??

I think we will need at least two goals to win this match. Possibly three. Cottbus' Romanians strike out of nowhere.

Energie Cottbus

GK: Piplica - In my opinion, the worst starting GK in the Bundesliga, makes many great and nice saves, but also makes almost as many mistakes.

However, he always seems to save good matches for us.

RB: Szelesi - Don't know him. Went to high school with a girl who had the same last name though......

CB: McKenna, Kukielka - Decent pairing. The Canadian McKenna is a lot tougher than people give him credit for. He also likes to go forward and help on offense. We need to have a sustained attack to keep him in his own half.

LB: Cvitanovic - I think he's been making more of a name for himself as an offensive provider. Much like Degen sadly and BADLY tries to do for us. We'll have to look out for him.

MF: da Silva - Caused us problems in the match at Cottbus. I don't think Kehl can deal with this guy on a weak knee. Might have to assign Tinga to him, but what an enormous size disadvantage for us if we have to do that.

MF: Rost - Sneaky little player who starts the counter-attack very quickly. Another we have to keep our eyes on.

MF: Shao - See Rost.

MF: Munteanu - I think their most valuable player. Sets up goals and scores a bunch as well. If we had this guy, we would be fighting FCN for fifth place. If he wasn't playing left back, I'd have Kringe marking this guy. I think Sahin will have to try.

Striker - Kioyo: See da Silva comments. Change "Tinga" to Amedick and eliminate the Kehl comments.

Striker - Radu: Sneaky little f#cker, but effective. He is to Cottbus what we thought we were buying in Valdez.

Cottbus Reserves: Tremmel, Thoms (Both goalkeepers), Baumgart, Sidney, Aidoo, Rivic, Schuppan, Ziebig, Kanik, Bandrowski, Feick, Neumann, Trytko, Kuentzel

Out of the match: Skela , Jungnickel (Both lack of match fitness), Schockel (Recovering from stomach surgery), Mitreski (Torn MCL), Gunkel (Yellow card suspension/5th)

Kicker Cottbus comments: da Silva returns to the Cottbus lineup after sitting out last week with a yellow card suspension (5th). He should play as a sweeper for them on Sunday. Rost will continue to play in the midfield for him.

Kicker Match Facts: First match ended in a 3-2 win for BVB. In the previous seven matches with BVB, Cottbus has been able to win just one point. But that point was a highly damaging one to BVB. The final match of the 2002/2003 season, an already relegated Cottbus came into Westfalenstadion and played BVB to a 1-1 draw, costing BVB a return to the Champions' League.

BVB also has two shutout victories at home over Cottbus. In three home matches against Cottbus so far, BVB has a record of 2 victories, the aforementioned draw and no losses.

Let's hope this is one "good streak" that does not come to an end this season.

So far, all the others have.

Well, about the only thing we did agree on back then was that BVB paid too much for him.

And as stated, I don't have a problem with saying to everyone that you were right.

I just translated a short interview they did with him after practice on Tuesday and Valdez admitted he's been seeing a "mind helper". Take that to mean a "head doctor".

I guess he wasn't ready for all that comes with being a 4.5M Euro man and his nice salary.

BVB wants us all to "understand". Well f#ck no. I just can't.

This is a game, not world politics or even combat.

You want stress? Try combat. I have and that's where you might need a head doctor afterwards.

In football, you go out and you play a game you've played all your life to the best of your ability. That's it.

Where's the difficult part??

I'm translating an article for the Official BVB Website (www.borussia-dortmund.com) right now that suggests both Kehl and Wörns will start on Sunday.

The translation should be posted later today.

So I finally get GolTV and to my pleasure I see a Dortmund side that I haven't had the chance to see all season long. And they played well, for the most part. The first 15 minutes were pretty disorganized but after that it was attack, attack, attack. The goal from Cottbus after the six minute allowed them to sit back...who knew they would score another 2? Metzelder and Sahin played offensive football and Tinga had some brilliant moves...Ricken -eh, not so much.

And half time ends 1-1 thanks to an awsome move by Frei. I was happy with my GolTV. But I wanted the three points.

After the break, BVB take their foot of the gas peddle a bit and Cottbus start to show some character. Dortmund pretty much played them for the last 30 minutes but this wasn't to be.

Woerns fouls some Cottbus player by shoving him but it doesn't get called. I breath...then not but a few minutes latter, Woerns makes the perfect tack in the box, but the ref calls on it and awards the penalty. Wow, I'm amazed. Full attack again but much sloppier, some passes do not connect and Cottbus and the players seem to play along well with each other and have a good understanding...andwith the coach subbing in the Chinese internastional they counter very dangerously and it's soon 1-3.

Now, I am yelling at the TV while my wife says, "Maybe wew shouldn't have gotten this channel."

Long story short...Frei scores one more and Roebben makes some subs. Dortmund with minutes to go on a set piece has frei score the 'hat-trick', I was so happy Dortmund tied in their home, but against Cottbus? Anyway, great goal or was it...nope off-sides.

The team played well, sloppy defending cost them the game. I wouldn't say poor finishing in this case though Sahin and Metz both had great shots going wide, but for the most part, Cottbus defended putting all their men in the box.

S that's how it is...3 very valuable points down the toilet, BVB fans throwing crap onto the pitch and I got my Time-Warner cable upgrade.

Energie and Aachen pull away...uefa.com (http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/news/kind=2/newsid=512589.html)

FC Energie Cottbus and TSV Alemannia Aachen boosted their chances of avoiding relegation with Bundesliga wins on Sunday.

Energie looked to have the hardest task of the two strugglers as they travelled to BV Borussia Dortmund, but Vlad Munteanu's two goals inspired them to a 3-2 victory. The Romanian midfielder opened the scoring after six minutes only for Alexander Frei (42) to equalise. Munteanu (56) restored Energie’s advantage with his ninth league goal of the season before Chinese midfielder Jiayi Shao (66) gave them a two-goal cushion. Frei (86) then struck again to set up a tense finish but the visitors held on to move up to eleventh in the table and level on points with Dortmund.
